WHY ALL THE RESIGNATIONS, WAS IT SOMETHING JIMMY SAID?

ATLANTA - Fourteen members of an advisory board to Jimmy Carter’s human rights organization resigned Thursday to protest his new book, which criticizes Israeli policy in the Palestinian territories.

The resignations from The Carter Center board are the latest backlash against the former president’s book “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,” which has drawn fire from Jewish groups, been attacked by fellow Democrats and led to the resignation last month of Kenneth Stein, a center fellow and a longtime Carter adviser.

The book follows the Israeli-Palestinian peace process starting with Carter’s 1977-1980 presidency and the peace accord he negotiated between Israel and Egypt. It doles out blame to Israel, the Palestinians, the United States and others, but it is most critical of Israeli policy.

Steve Berman, an Atlanta real estate developer among those who resigned, said members have “watched with great dismay” as Carter defended the book, especially as he implied that Americans might be afraid to discuss the conflict in fear of a powerful Jewish lobby.

What say you all, is Jimmy getting a bad rap? Yes/No, why or why not? What did this great humanitian say that caused so many to turn their backs on this man?

He is getting a bad rap for speaking the truth.
Oh h_ll no, he went too far this time.
Once again, the Zionist arse kissers are at it again.

From what I understand they resigned because they feel that he has abandoned his historic role as an generally unbiased broker and essentially taken sides along with numerous factual errors in his book. Which is a shame because these people were serving as advocates for the Carter Center.

^ advocates as long as he spoke what they wanted to hear. turncoats once he spoke his mind.

face it -- they're the ones looking like hypocrits. so what? it's their way or no way? if you long respected jimmy carter, then people should ask themselves if he is being true to his views or not. of course he is. so those that resigned are the users and fakes, not him. they abandonded their values, not him.

it's a clear case of them liking and supporting him as long as what he says and writes is okay with them. they need to wake up -- what jimmy said is taking root every where. what does that mean for the future? i have no idea.

^Maybe everyone has a right to their opinion. If people disagree, that's not censorship. It's freedom of speech.

Voted : He is getting a bad rap for speaking the truth.
Isreal's population is mainly of a European descent and is forcibly imposing onto a land in which it has no legitimate right of Statehood or claim to.
Despite Palistines poor maintenance of the land, historical conflicts within and repeated abandoning of territory, it is rightfully in an Arab territory and the indigenous people must be foremost respected and giving broad latitude in consideration of Israeli policy.

If Jimmy C. sees Israel for the bully it is and speaks against it's fascist policies, that's not succombing to a bias, that's bearing light on injustice to an oppressed people. If the people *serving* as his advocates lack character to stand behind him, They weren't the right people for the job anyway. They did him a favor by resigning.

The Jewish lobby is like the mafia, it doesn't exist either, even though everyone knows it does.

Carter was very courageous to publish the truth.
