I'm totally confused here. Perhaps someone could enlighten me. Apparently the Taliban is planning something major there, and our presence is needed. You know, 'coz Bin Laden (remember him? 9/11?) is supposed to be there and all.

Just wondering.

It's down the rabbit-hole, AGAIN.
Ours not to reason why, ours but to do and die.
Osama Bin Laden - who's he? The Taliban - what's that?
Because the Afghan pipeline construction is right on schedule.
Because a failure in Iraq would make his presidency a failure
Because he is trying to save his legacy
Because he's a retarded monkey that's way out of his depth in his current job

I think that what it comes down to is that Bush is doing all that he can to try to prevent Iraq from becoming a failure(i.e a terrorist state)because his legacy is on the line.He doesn't want to be recorded in the history books as the man who lost an entire nation to Al Qeada or perhasp Iran.

Just remember this equation Bush starts pre-emptive war on Iraq - winning the peace and creating a stable democracy in Iraq = Bush's presidency was a floop.

I believe what it all comes down to is that Bush knowns that his legacy as a president rides on the success or failure of Iraq and thus is doing everything he can to make sure Iraq will turn out to be a stable democracy and thus a success. As goes Iraq goes Bush's presidency in the eyes of history;he will either be remembered as the man one created a new democracy in the M.E or the man who lost an entire nation to the Islamo-fascist.

The Afghanistan pipeline contract was signed under the Clinton Administration. A war in Afghanistan was justified regardless of what you conspiracy theorists believe.

I watched a clip of his latest speech and I do give him (and his speech writers) credit for one thing: suggesting to and actually convincing some people that Iraq had anything to do with September 11th--by consistently mentioning some implied or indirect connection between Saddam Hussein & Iraq and Osama Bin Laden & Al Qaeda for years now.

^ yes, I noticed that from the very start (4 years ago). They never came out and SAID it, just mentioned Saddam and Osama in the same sentence all the time. Very sneaky, very filthy, very clever.
