Why is this person unable to work with a fear of open spaces?

You should see the shitty little cubicle I have to sit in.

I dont see anything wrong with it as long as the agorophobic seeks professional help to assist him overcoming that problem.
Some people I know think agorophobia is a a whim and not really a disease.

Receiving a State Pension for this only enables progression and maintaining the disease. There are numerous jobs availible that will accomadate people with disorders like this.

Though paying medical costs are within reason.

I choose this answer because there are literally millions of people with this and similar disorders who are not deemed eligible and are denied assistance.

This person is one of a lucky few and that's what's not fair about it.
Allowing a pension for a few and not straight across the board is favoritism. Not fair at all. Now consider the cost to the State if everyone diagnosed received a Pension. Is that fair to the rest of us? Is it fair that I should be made responsible to support millions of people because I'm able to cope?

I don't have a better answer, but I don't think its fair.

I can see minni's point, that he/she should be able to do some sort of tele-commutative work, but I can't fault this person for feeling crippled, either. I have a friend who was much the same way for years, through no fault of hers.

Agoraphobia is a disease, a mental one, like Schitzophrenia and some people don't have anyone to help take care of them.

If the agorophobia is extreme enough, it should be treated like any other illness, although telecommuting would be better if allowed and the person is an IT professional. I think this should be decided on a case by case basis.

Many jobs won't place them in situations that bring out their phobia.

Is fear of work a recognized phobia?

There are plenty of jobs that these people could do.

With the right shrink you could probably prove that anyone is incapable of working. Fuck 'em, join the right race like the rest of us.
