Kurt Cobain 4ever
Don't even compare these fools.
As much as I loved Nirvana's music and lyric styles, anyone who honestly believes Kurt Cobain was a great guitarist desperately needs to get out more and open their ears to some real talent. Not only was he terrible, but they had to dub his riffs during concerts because he couldn't play them right.
god speaks through santana's guitar
kirt cobain? WTF he fucking sucks at guitar and all you people who don't play guitar are stupid to think he's good. FUCK KURT COBAIN. FUCK NOZZLE.
Geogre bensons a great jazz player
check out any rage dvd or song with a solo from tom morello, hes untouchable in rage
I wish I could have been around in the 70's. I wanted to go to a Led Zeppelin concert
Jimmy Page has my vote by the way because noone can play as bad@$$ as him. He was the guitarist of Led Zeppelin!
Benji Madden sucks at guitar. It's all skinny fag-who-wears-pink-eyeshadow (billy). they're all ugly. kurt cobain was #12 in rollingstone's 100 top guitarists. Dave Grohl is awesome and so is Josh Homme
Wes Borland, coz he is the real talent of Limp Bizkit, a freak, A GUY THAT WAS ALWAYS BEAT UP anD HATED in HIGH SCHOOL, coz he is a freak, and then played the guitar to vent his frustations and after he has mastered the guitar he got REVENGE on those dum fucks that keep beating him up during high-school by using his talent on the guitar. and he joined Limp Bizkit and propelled Limp Bizkit's popularity with his excellent riffs and his unique style of clothing and is mainly a big part why Limp Bizkit is so good
...and left Limp Bizkit hopefully for more fruitful exercises...kewl!
if im going to be a guitarist i want to be like Wes Borland...
Rock is basically an offshoot of blues, and so is heavy metal. Since Robert Johnson is the greatest blues musician ever, he is hands down the greatest guitarist ever.
I have played guitar for alittle over 22 years now and it just makes me shake my head in disbelief when people say Cobain was a great guitarist. He was overrated in EVERY way, shape, and form. Crappy, voice, lyrics, sloppy guitarwork, etc. With that said, I would give my vote to SRV...even though I think he thought at times he was Jimmy Hendrix re-incarnated(copied his gimmicks alot) Listen to the "Texas Flood" Album and "Austin City Limits"(1989). Fastest "shredders" i have ever heard are Yngwie( every CD), Vinnie vincent(Invasion cd), and Michael Angelo(Nitro). Most accurate picking hand...YNGWIE. King of running the scales. He wouldve got my vote for the best but he seems like that is all he does...play as fast as he can. BTW, took the advice and pulled out a yngwie greatest hits cd and listened to beyond the sun. Think that was on the "Marching out" cd WAY back in the day. Yes, that mo fo can shred. What an accurate picking hand!
Briamn May of Queen. Is he still alive?
oops..pulled out the cassette..lol...it was the " Rising force" album. God damn...that was 84'.
I would trade my soul to the devil to play like Jimmy Hendrix.
As Flea once said....John motherfuckin Frusciante....nuff sed
Animal From The Muppet Show is the Drummer! BTW, Tony Blair plays guitar.
Toss up between Page and Harrison... both fantastic
Come on, Zep fans!! Jimmy Page!!
RHCP guitarist is shit. i have to say this, this comment will most probabaly piss 98% of the worlds fucking population off. however john fruiscnawahteverthe fuckitis is not one of the greatest guitarists, all the guitars are simple to learn the tunes are just catchy all the time which pisses me fucking off!
kirk hamlet (periAT). (thats period in french. ...bitch.)
Go learn guitar for at least ten years than come back and vote... you idiots.
Kurt cobain is best guitarist or maybe the guitarist of system of a down.
eddie van halen kicks so much ass!
jimy hendrix explored how far six strings can do..rare people like jimy visit this panet once in a blue moon....Jimy page, Eddie and curt cobain were under his thrown. their great too. difficult to judge..as music is arts.. but no doubt that hendrix is the source of all inspirations.
i'm a big fans of nirvana, i guess curt cobain is the legend in the lyrics and tones stream, he breaks the boundary of lyrics and tone, ofcourse he changed hows rock music sound in the markets perhaps forever but he didn't changed the note at all.without his lyrics and tones he's just a player..
BON JOVI obviously!!
The fact that Tony Iommi wasn't on the list shows that over half of you don't know anything about guitar. Hendrix, Page, and Iommi paved the way for most of the losers on this list. Iommi wrote the riffs for Black Sabbath, the godfathers of metal, and he did it all with a serious handicap; before the band was popular he lost the tips of all four of his digits (not the thumb) on his right hand. He played with artificial finger tips (since he was a lefty, like Hendrix) and he still left everyone in his dust. Respect!
I have a Rock&Roll soul! Even though I am a left-wing Democrat,I believe you could scrap all the music from the 60's --- save Hendrix, and you would feel the era! When it comes to guitarists there is only 2 categories: 1. Jimi Hendrix 2.Everybody else ------ Jimi's music is more popular today than when he was alive
Who was it that used to make his guitar "talk"? That's the coolest trick I've ever seen... bad-ass...
For Hendrix Fans a great website is at: the hendrix collection dot com
The guitar-talker you are talking about is Peter Frampton.
Guitar playing sucks jerkin off rocks
Mike Tyson.
I;m voting for Mr. T because I believe he is multi-talented. Not only does he play well, he writes some awesome music.
Richie kotzen,yngwie or michael angelo.
why the hell is benji madden on this list?????
McFly Rocks!!!
Hendrix is and always will be the man.
dude kurt has smple power chords, i can safely say im better than him
Jake Foy
Hendrix is the only fucking guitarist. All these other people are mere shadows of the original rock God.HENDRIX!!
Definateley
I AM!!
Eddie Van Halen was the best back in the day, maybe still is for all i know and he was so adorable, smiling all the time while playing, with that cute brown wavy hair. i never thought angus young was all that talented. my old boyfriend thought the best guitarist was the guy who had the Silver Surfer on his way old album cover/tape case or whatever but i thought that guy sucked, whoever he was. since when does orlando bloom play guitar?? ok, i'll say him then. who's the frickin idiot brit who thinks Kurt Cobain is from White Stripes????!!!!
Richie Sambora!!!
Brian May and Eddie Van Halen.
jim
Why don't we have a best DEAD guitar players.Let watch and learn from the living players. Why rate the dead with the living.Get a grip all you assholes who vote fornon players, you are fucking up this site. Get a grip on life, it is here and now.
Either one of the Floyd boys. Barret or Gilmour. This is based not on pure playing skill, but originality and emotion. Some of the most spaced out, ethereal crap I have ever heard came from those 2.
me PaulisKoRn
For those who abusively think that their favourite guitarist is the best ever and anyone who disagrees are morons, get your head out of your arse. I am a crappy guitar player (so I admit I am no expert) but there is no way of determining who is the best ever ACROSS ALL GENRES. I mean in such a long list I don't think I ever saw Chet Atkins. Chet Atkins was AMAZING! Personally I LOVE listening to Mark Knopfler the most out of any guitarist I have ever heard. Jimi Hendrix was brilliant, absolutely brilliant, and I love the sounds he managed to produce. However some of his live songs tearn into complete wankfests. Really, what is the point of 'playing with your teeth?' - your fingers work a lot better.
Jimmy hendrix- are you expereinced?
okay, it's jimi. you all know it. it makes me really sad that anyone would vote for the GC guitarist. when i saw he was on the list i actually felt like throwing up. Anyone who didn't vote for hendrix obviously has never seen him play. Or voted for Jimmy Page. because he's good too. more than good. Oh. and Cobain's good too so shut up about it. he died at 27 didn't he?
Depends on who you like, there is no "greatest guitarist". My favourites are: Dave Gilmour, Eric Clapton, BB King and Joe Satriani. I think the more important question should be direct to the user "ughpfft". Do you know what a full-stop is? It make reading a lot easier because the writer doesn't look like an idiot.
5 decades and still rockin'
Where is Vinnie Moore, Marty Friedman, Greg Howe and Tony McAlpine?
No two ands ifs or buts about it, Eddie Van Halen is the best and always will be the best
Daron Malakian from System of a down
Van Halen is ten times better than Hendrix
Yngwie Malmsteen puts Hendrix in the same league as Billie Joe Armstrong
