I know rich people that have never had to work hard for anything and they seem to embrace conservatism because conservatives pretend we live in a world where everyone has the same opportunity as everyone else. They love to point to the minority of less fortunate people that have achieved the same level of fortune or greater as them, but ignore the fact that they had at least twice the level of adversity to overcome. No one is born with empathy and the easiest way to develop it is by experiencing misfortune first hand. We can't be surprised by this half-assed, lazy, shortsighted "philosophy," but at least we can do everything in our power to condemn it on a social level.

I agree with Robin. Pretty much all the rich people (except one guy) i know were born in a golden crib and accuse those who are poorer than them of being lazy (they dont know what adversity means). I even lost some "friends" because we got into nasty arguments over this; apparently they didnt like much when i pointed out that spending daddy's money wasnt truly a profession nor did it qualify them to talk rubbish about people who can hardly make a living despite working 10 hours a day.
