Voted : Yes, it is fair to ask for an explanation
Seems reasonable to me.
To more clearly assess the situation (assuming you truly don't understand/ perceive the applicability): Sure. To defend your stance because you believe he/she is misusing/ misapplying the accusation: Sure (but be absolutely certain that you are, indeed, right -- and be ready to reassess if it turns out you are the one with mistaken perception). To try to weasel semantics to avoid taking responsibility for ones' stance: No, not really.
Of course, one common argument tactic is to persistently ask for definitions, with the expectation that it can be difficult to accurately and fully articulate such things -- then, one can try to pounce on any failings or potential ambiguities in the definition as a way to avoid dealing with the actual substance of the accusation.
Rememebr: If one gets the same 'attacks' over and over -- especially if from multipel sources -- it may behoove you to take an objective look at yourself. Maybe they are seeing something you aren't.
No, you CANT ask for a definition, because you are a NEO-CON RACE BAITER HERZOG!
Voted : No, those attacks are meant to be vague and without any clear definition
Seriously thouhg, those attacks work precisely BECAUSE they are vague and hard to disprove, even though in a logical world the ownus would be on the assuser to prove the accusees guilt, rather than the other way around.
Voted : Yes, it is fair to ask for an explanation
Abosolutely if someone is going to tar another as a racist or biggot they better back it up with proof or else their just name callers.
Voted : No, those attacks are meant to be vague and without any clear definition
I prefer to use words i dont understand as a compliment, example Race baiter = i can score a chick from any race

Bypassing cathexis' usual lecturing and self righteousness, I'll try to answer this question. I'm always somewhat amused on this site at the way some users toss this label around. In the past, this was generally done by so "bleeding heart" liberals who felt that they had to label things as "racist" in some misguided attempt to defend people who in their view were/are apparently to weak to defend themselves (or to identify racism). On this site in most cases the users throwing this term around are white in a majority white country. What is odd is that they are the first people to use this term. Many times the group of people they are attempting to defend do not take the comments, etc as "racist", but rather ass bringing up valid questions, an opportunity to educate or being based more on ignorance (lack of knowledge) than stemming from some inherent "racist" viewpoint. These same users are suspiciously quiet when a ballot or comment is actually racist, hateful, based on negative stereotypes against my race(s). Very few ever defend me - most notably those users who are the quickest to throw the "racist" label around. For example, when I strongly criticize a "joke" ballot on "Indian" names which perpetuates stereotypes everyone tells me it is a "joke" ballot and to lighten up. Apparently it is OK in their view to depict Native Americans as bloodthirsty savages and objects of ridicule. I also rarely if ever, see these same users point out anti-semitic comments or defend Jews. Often they themselves will be the ones making comments that are certainly borderline anti-semitic. I would be more willing to listen to their accusations if these people were consistent in their views. It is certainly OK to ask for an explanation especially because they are very inconsistent in identifying racism, bigotry and anti-semitism. As a side note, it often appears that these same users stereotype all followers of a certain religion as a "race". This to me is at least somewhat racist and ignorant. I have even made a number of ballots on it but I have unable to get at these user's reasoning. They really never answer the ballot. See this ballot 89533 ballot #89533 Don't ever expect to get an explanation though.

Technically yes, Herzog, but let's face it, when is Cranky EVER going to do that??? I do sympathize with your situation though, he kinda follows you around on ballots that he's not blocked on.

"Rememebr: If one gets the same 'attacks' over and over -- especially if from multipel sources -- it may behoove you to take an objective look at yourself. Maybe they are seeing something you aren't." And if it's merely three, clearly obsessed users who stalk you from ballot to ballot, and no one else, and they can't come up with any objective evidence, and they can't even define what they're criticizing me for and no one else sees it, perhaps that reflects poorly on those three users, eh cath? Personally I don't think it makes much sense to use an insult if you don't even know what it means.
Aya; thanks, cranky was always a bit of a nut but he seems to have stepped it up lately, and he is certainly guilty of falsely accusing me of racism quite a bit. Him and ramadung are just a little too crazy for my taste. So this ballot was about a user with similiar tactics, but who hasn't quite taken the plunge in to full on madness yet, although she's teetering on the edge. She also has not been blocked from my ballots (she did block my from hers) so this particular user could use this ballot to respond and provide a workable definition, but I doubt that'll happen.

Don't worry, BBC will be coming around soon to give you some rubbish explanation.
I wouldn't worry about it herzog. What they do is attack the person rather than the argument. It is the oldest tactic in the book. Even guest user cathexis does this, but he does it in a more subtle and insidious manner.
Voted : Yes, it is fair to ask for an explanation
I've been wondering what it means whenever it gets used. O.o

What is purely hypothetical that you're refering to, the use of Race Baiter or the person? This person obviously feels you offended her or someone close to her at some point and she perceives you're unsympathetic and unapologetic for offenses against her or other races. Out of the users that have you blocked, Lovelynice is the only female and she hasn't been on (at least under her user's name) since Dec. 13th. SatinFlowerPink and Cranky are both male. So, either they've removed the block, or you're talking about Lovelynice. If not Lovelynice, then you're talking about Cranky or SatinFlowerPink and you're use of false and misleading pretenses on this ballot may be an example of why they persist to *attack* you. Simply ask them specifically what or why they are offended and being offensive toward you my friend? And ask them what they mean by Race Baiter? RACE BAITER : A person who intentionally refers to people by race or ethnic origin in a subtle, condescending demeanor, for deliberate antagonism or insult. Uaually people don't get all butt hurt out of the blue. There is obviously an incident of reference or they're just completely psychotic. Have you ever considered just talking with the person and asking them to explain outside of a ballot? A closed mouth don't get fed!
He(?) Who Is Nameless seems to be all over this one, so I can go onward...
Voted : Yes, it is fair to ask for an explanation
cranky doesn't have the intellect to go any deeper than name calling.
Those who support Herzog in her quest of her appearing innocent in this matter don't know what you all are taking about, she is a RACIST, bottomline. Now, you all have the choice to disagree with that fact, I know a RACIST when I smell one. Herzog is a RACIST, period and if you all do not find the mistruths and misinformation, the rabid dog searches with great zeal/zest of negative and disparaging information regarding people of color, adding her RACIST spin as well, (intentionally mind you, I would certainly be shocked to learn that she is unknowingly making such outlandish comments) offensive regarding people of color, I guess her comments are not aimed directly at you and/or someone close to you. Therefore, expecting any of her supporters to understand would be unrealistic. However, I will not ignore her RACIST comments for the sake that others here do not agree with my assessment and the facts. Herzog is a boil on the arse of society festering with hatred and I will continue to mop up the slime everytime she spew such RACIST rants out that sewer hole of hers. Herzog's subtle/insidious and sometimes overt RACIST comments are insulting and uncall for and I will not walk by those hateful comments without putting her hateful and insensitive arse in check...
Correction: you all are *talking* about...
Voted : Yes, it is fair to ask for an explanation
One should explain what they mean. Otherwise, they don't understand the word they are using. One should never use a word that they don't understand- they just look foolish.
BBC- "overt RACIST comments are insulting and uncall for and I will not walk by those hateful comments without putting her hateful and insensitive arse in check..." - Okay. Do as such now. Show me a quote from herzog that was racist. Put him in check as you claim you will and present some evidence. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
passiveson- "RACE BAITER : A person who intentionally refers to people by race or ethnic origin in a subtle, condescending demeanor, for deliberate antagonism or insult." - Sounds most like sociology professors to me. However, I suppose most users on this site would believe the race baiting of sociologist professors to be good and wholesome, because they are overwhelmingly left wing. - Your definition also sounds more like affirmative action. How dare anyone question my ability to achieve things on my own without help because of my skin colour? Affirmative action advocates sound like race baiters to me, according to your definition.
" This person obviously feels you offended her or someone close to her at some point and she perceives you're unsympathetic and unapologetic for offenses against her or other races" Or she's a nut. " Simply ask them specifically what or why they are offended and being offensive toward you my friend? And ask them what they mean by Race Baiter?" I did ask this individual that exact question, ballot 111826, her only response to my fair requests for clarification was to define race-baiter as "herzog", which is a less than useful definition. " Uaually people don't get all butt hurt out of the blue. There is obviously an incident of reference or they're just completely psychotic." I'd go with the second option. As I've clearly asked this user time and time again to find the exact quote of mine that set her down this path, and every time she has refused to come up with any sort of evidence. I have to ask, if a user completely obsess over me, when I mostly ignore her, and she can't come up with any reason for it, nor can she prove any of her insults, who is to blame? Me for being stalked? Or her for doing the stalking? " RACE BAITER : A person who intentionally refers to people by race or ethnic origin in a subtle, condescending demeanor, for deliberate antagonism or insult." Well I'd prefer to get her words for it, but she won't answer so I guess this definition will do. Good, so clearly I am not a race-baiter as this definition doesn't apply to me and we can all conclude that this user is off her rocker.
Babs: I think this is the fourth or fifth time I've asked for clarification on your insults, and challenged you to back up your claims of racism on my part with any sort of empirical evidence beyond "ug, me babs, me hate herzog". And this is the fourth or fifth time you've failed to provide even a sliver of proof or concrete logic to support your claims. If you insist and claiming something is true, but refuse to offer proof, is it up to everyone else to disprove it, or up to you to back up your assertions? For instance, you might claim that all whites are evil. So, it'd be up to you to back that statement up. It would not be up to all whites to offer proof that they aren't evil. So please babs, support your arguments. Empty rhetoric and the random use of the caps lock button will only get you so far.
feel free to offer a real explanation as soon as possible so we can clear this up. And put the "offended victim routine" away, we both know I haven't said anything to you to make you go crazy like this. And how do we know this? Because had I said something so horrible that it literally damaged your mind to this extent and forced this behavior from an otherwise normal adult you would place that quote everywhere you could. On this ballot, on your user page, on ballots that have nothing to do with that topic. Had I said anything nearly as bad as you continue to imply that I have we'd see little on this site but comments by you quoting my horrible, horrible words. As we haven't I think it's safe to conclude you're full of shit.
Oh, and several users took offense to my criticizing another user "behind her back". Even that it was done publicly, when she was around and certain to see it, and I invited her to come here and read what I had written, and given her ample opportunity to explain herself then (and now), and it's not really bashing to point out the faults of others if they are indeed faults, and so on. I wonder if those same users are ashamed of their obsessive comments about me on ballot 110778, knowing that I was out of town and unable to respond? Well, no one ever accused cranky, babs, or ramadung (can't complain I didn't mention your names now) of not being hypocrites.
