[+] ballot by winston
ACTIVE Fri Feb 02, 07 - Sat Feb 02, 08

England, France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland and Wales annualy compete in a Rugby union tournament known as the Six Nations. England are the World Champions, yet they were regulary beaten last year. However, Johny Wilkinson is finally back and ready to spur the English side to Glory. The French won the Six nations championship last year, beating Ireland on points difference but losing to Scotland along the way. Heavy defeats to New Zealand in the autumn suggest they are still haunted by inconsistency.
Ireland are most people's idea as favourites after tying on points with champions France last year and beating Australia and South Africa in the autumn. Runners-up to England in 2003, Triple Crown winners in 2004 and 2006 but blew a title bid in 2005, losing at home to France and again in Cardiff as Wales clinched the Grand Slam.
Italy possess a powerful pack and a core of talented players but have struggled to make the most of their opportunities.
Wales only won one match last year, after an brilliant Six nations victory in 2005. They have an impressive squad and will be looking for a strong start to 2007.
Scotland have a new coach, and will be looking to build on last years victory's over England and France.

So, who do you think will win this years Six Nations Championship?

England
France

My Heart says England but my head says Ireland. As long as we beat Scotland tomorrow, or i will never hear the end of it from my grandad.

Now here's a proper sports ballot. I salute you Winston!
I say France as I believe their 3/4 are the best in the Northern hemisphere and historically they do make a difference when playing against teams with heavier packs, like England for example.
I'm sad to say this but Ireland chokes on key moments and they still have some difficulties defending against fast teams like France. They lack a bit of that flair the frogs have. Still, it will be very interesting to see the irish fowards in action.

On their day the French can be the best side in the world, but I do think they lack consistency. Losing Shane Horgan could hurt the Irish, but I honestly feel that they have their best squad in years. Aren't the Irish playing in a different stadium this year? If England have any chance of making a successful defense of their World Cup they are going to need to have a very good six nations tournament. I think the match against France at Twickenham could prove vital to our chance of success.
