Would it matter if he denied spreading his secretaries legs across his desk?
despite the fact that Obama's cigarette use was, in fact, known during his 2004 Senate campaign But that's not what I asked, if he denied or not, would you vote for someone who smokes was the question.
Voted : smoking would not matter

Beware of Obama Bin Laiden

Bush's dope smoking didn't seem to matter to Republicans, why should Obama's tobacco smoking matter to Democrats?

It's a non-issue to me. I could see bringing it up if he made a point about not smoking and was caught in a lie, but even then I don't really care. I'm more interested in finding out what he'd do differently if he were elected. So far all we've heard is that he smokes, he's the great black hope for the presidency, and he went to islamic school as a kid. None of these really inspires me to vote for the guy.
Voted : Why isn't he smokin Pot, instead??
- maybe he didn't inhale?
It's sad I can't tell whether or not the picture is real. It's not is it?

I don't like smoke near me, but I won't complain about smoke from the White House. That would be silly.

What a dumb thing to make an issue of. So he smokes, last time I checked it was legal.

As long as they can do the job. And, in all honesty, how many pollies *do* we know to be smokers? Odds are, the perecntage is far higher than we perceive, because what you do in the privacy of your abode *stays* there.

Oh my GOD! He smokes? Well that just changes everything now!..
I notice most of the site liberals have voted to say "it doesn't matter". I think it does matter. Millions, if not billions of dollars are spent each year trying convince kids not to smoke and to get adults to stop. "Hey Johnny, you shouldn't smoke its bad for you!" "Why should I stop? The president does it so it must be OK!" Some facts from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC): - Cigarette smoking is responsible for about 1 of every 5 deaths per year. - More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined. - On average, adults who smoke cigarettes die 14 years earlier than nonsmokers. - Based on current cigarette smoking patterns, an estimated 25 million Americans who are alive today will die prematurely from smoking-related illnesses, including 5 million people younger than 18. - The risk of dying from lung cancer is more than 22 times higher among men who smoke cigarettes and about 12 times higher among women who smoke cigarettes compared with never smokers. - Cigarette smoking results in a two- to three-fold increased risk of dying from coronary heart disease. - Cigarette smoking is associated with a ten-fold increased risk of dying from chronic obstructive lung disease. - About 90% of all deaths from chronic obstructive lung diseases are attributable to cigarette smoking Yeah, great example for the youth of this nation. That being said... it isn't a "secret", it is well known. It is a dirty habit though.
Voted : Smoking matters, but not enough
I agree with what FF said, but were I of voting age, whether or not a candidate smokes definitely wouldn't be a deciding factor in my vote.
