be fair to categorize them as "taxation without representation?"
Seems that was the reasoning behind the bloody Revolutionary War in the first place. Just a thought.

Yes, it's taxation with unfair representation.
No, the representation for these taxes is completely fair.

Voted : No, the representation for these taxes is completely fair.
A person who does not hold a cigarette and puff on it still inhales second hand smoke. Smokers force EVERYONE to be smokers.

It is not fair, but cigarette smokers are represented in the pool of voters.

It's better than taxing food, or gas. But they shouldn't make the tax too high.

I'm quite sure that not everyone participating in or supporting the Boston Tea Party actually drank tea. Taxes and government are for the common good. EVERYONE gets to vote on whether taxes should be imposed. There fore you have taxation WITH representation. The Boston Tea Party was about NO ONE getting to vote on these taxes - not just tea drinkers. You don't get a pick and choose system. If we were to go off the deep end on this "taxation without representation" nonsense we would end up with the following scenarios:
1. I don't have kids in school so I should not be able to vote on school levies. And... the tax should only be imposed on those with kids attending public schools. Public school system collapses.
2. I don't drink. Therefore I should not be able to vote on whether taxes on alcohol should be increased.
3. I don't like spending money for defense. What are they defending me from anyways? I also don't like the XYZ weapon system so I shouldn't have to pay for it.
4. I have never needed the police nor had a fire so I don't think I should have to pay for these.
5. I don't like welfare. Therefore I shouldn't pay taxes for it. After all they are lazy bums. Make them work at McDonald's and only tax them. That will raise about $3.00.
