WHEN YOUR LIFE CHANGES, SHOULD YOU TRY HARD TO KEEP YOUR OLD FRIENDS?

When you leave high school and go to college, you naturally change your friends. And when you go to university after college you change again. Because of circumstance, people move away, or get married, or start different jobs you lose touch with people that you were once close to. But if for some reason, it's not your circumstances so much as your outlook that changes, should you try to remain friends with people that still move within the same circles as you do?

I never questioned the way my friends and I thought and acted before I was in a bad accident last summer. It's taking me a long time to recuperate, but I will recover completely. Except that in the meantime, I have spent time with people older and sicker than me, who think differently and value things differently, and who I have learned to appreciate greatly. Now I find my old friends boring and superficial, and some of them still make excuses for me, but I'm pretty sure most of them think I've become boring myself. Should I try to change back when I go back to my old life? I don't really want to, but I'm afraid I'm going to be lonely.

Be like your old friends
Try and make new friends
Just be yourself.

If your old friends can't accept you for who you are now, then they're not your friends.

People come and go... the "real" friends stick with you no matter what.
