The case of Ruby Bridges
The march on Washington
Apartheid in South Africa
The bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama
Slavery, and its abolishment
Jim Crow laws
Jimi Hendrix
Phil Lynott
George Washington Carver

Inspiring.

I find it so amazing that up until the 1960's, almost 200 years after the country was founded and proclaimed all men are created equal, blacks didn't have equal rights. I could never understand the thinking of that time, glad I wasn't around to see it. I also don't have a problem with black history month, and another thing I can't understand, why some people do have a problem with it.

there was one about this chemist who developed cortisone for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. inspiring.

I've beena Thin Lizzy fan for decades, but I never knew, until this month, that heir lead singer/bassist/songwriter was Black by his father. Knowing this, I get an extra level from the appreciation of his music.

Voted : George Washington Carver
He was a brilliant scientist who contributed greatly to the advancement of science in america, and who just happened to be black. He would have stood out based solely on his achievements and his superb mind, and does not need any sort of historical quota system to receive praise.

So I pick a brilliant black scientist to praise, and you call me a racist for that because it was not an exhaustive list of every single black person of note? What about dung picking jimi hendrix, rather than some brilliant scientist or political leader. What is he saying, that all blacks are good for is singing and dancing to entertain whites? Sheesh, what a racist.

You've sort of lost it more than usual on this one babs, but again I'll ask you for what exactly was racist about my comment, and once again you'll decline to offer any proof.

I notice you forgot martin luther king, I guess by your logic you're a racist for failing to include him.

"He was a brilliant scientist who contributed greatly to the advancement of science in america, and who just happened to be black. He would have stood out based solely on his achievements and his superb mind, and does not need any sort of historical quota system to receive praise."

Oh Babs, you are even more hilarious since your reincarnation! So now Herzog is racist for promoting merit over race?

Guffaw!
by Doctordraw on Sun Feb 25, 07 6:37pm [+]

012 *sigh* again, you are such a case Herzog...

Now, lets move on to more important matters, a continual list of greatness...

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR (I'm certain you feel much better now Herzog now that I have added him to the list)105

Maxine Waters
Julian Bonds
Jessie Owns
Archibald Alexander
Norbert Rilieux
Elijah McCoy
David Crosthwait Jr
James West
George Carruthers
Miriam Benjamin
Benjamin Carson

General Daniel James Jr
Lillian Fishburne, Rear Admiral
Myrlie Evers-Williams
Wilma Rudolph
Oprah Winfrey
Dick Gregory
Tavis Smiley
Nikki Giovanni
Edward Brooke

Again, the list is endless and FYI Herzog, only you would assume the following:

"What about dung picking jimi hendrix, rather than some brilliant scientist or political leader. What is he saying, that all blacks are good for is singing and dancing to entertain whites?" ~ Herzog 011sheeesssh...

^It really hasnt been a big event in my life Babs, Im sorry to say.

Maybe if middle class white folks with nothing better to do than take up the causes of people who dont want their help, like yourself, try a little harder to thrust black history month in everyones faces next year you can make more of an impact on my "pathetic and boring live" eh?

Till next year then. MAG_afro

"I have a dream that my children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

If the good Dr. Reverand were alive today and saw MTV and BET, I suspect that his "I have a dream" speech would be overshadowed by his "What the fuck is wrong with you people?" speech.

I love it how herzog parades his alleged respect for one black scientist as a kind of alibi.

What a sleazy insincere cunt, lol.
by ramaDUNG on Mon Feb 26, 07 3:49pm [+]

Babs: you neglected to mention Edward Alexander Bouchet, first black man to graduate from Yale.

And again, by your logic since your list didn't include every single black person of note then you are a racist, or would you say that it is ridiculous to claim that because a list doesn't include every single black man in history that means the listmaker hates blacks?

Either your initial attack on my was absurd, or you are a racist.

And I challenge you to find anything wrong with my first comment. You can't, so you'll just scream racist over and over again like the race-baiting broken record you are. Perhaps you could change it up by calling me a fag or kike, as I know you aren't too fond of jews or homosexuals (I'm neither, but that's irrelevent) and certainly feel no hesitance at using slurs against these groups.
by herzog on Mon Feb 26, 07 4:15pm [+]

I'll answer the coward for you, Babs.

It's because your comment oozes insincerity, zog. Especially in light of the wide-brush scathing castigation of blacks in general that you've inflicted upon this website over the last couple of years.

One can't help but get the impression you posted that comment so you can tick the "Here's the proof I don't hate all blacks" box.

But I suspect you'd change your opinion of Carver if he lived next door to you... and brought up a family... got visits from his black friends... perhaps his son would start dating a white girl... wouldn't you?

Fucking right you would. We've got your card marked, fella.
by ramaDUNG on Tue Feb 27, 07 10:36am [+]

I would say Booker T. Washington.
