RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS/PAY IT FORWARD : ANOTHER FAILING PYRAMID SCHEME?

[+] serious ballot by LCD
created Tue Feb 27, 07

Karma : What good you do out there will eventually find its way back to you.

pay it forward : do 3 good deeds, and it will spread like wildfire across the world.

Pyramid Scheme : You pay $1000 to 3 people, and recruit 30 more to do the same.

if you really think about it, isn't paying it forward and the concept of karma like a pyramid scheme?

if so, due to cheaters in the system, shouldn't it always fail down the road?

Yes it is, therefore it doesn't work
no, it isn't, I will comment

One doesnt do a good deed with the expectation of reward, the deed is its own reward surely.

Attaching some gain to it other than the ultruistic feeling you get, somehow lessens the deed IMHO

I firmly believe that karma, if given freely and without expectation of recompense, will come back to you. "Paying it forward" depends on the willingness of others to give, which is a specious assumption at best in this world. Pyramid schemes- all involved should be shot on sight for stupidity, IMO.
