The link to the full text is http: // www. citynews. ca/ news /news_7296. aspx, minus all spaces, of course. I wish I could say that this ballot is the result of my interest in the subject (though I do have such), or a smaller part of my quest to obtain and secure the Truth I'm always looking for. The truth is that aya asked me to do this, because she felt that this ballot, attached to her name, would draw nothing but scorn and derision from some users who feel that the only oppressed segment of society these days is the White male. I say this now, both in the way of condemnation for such thoughts and to give aya proper recognition. Better be nice to her. I'm convinced that she's going to be Canada's PM one day.
I have no sympathy anymore Im afraid, considering the advantages women have in society nowadays. Its a womans world.
^Doc, I feel the same way about men. I have no sympathy for White men who complain about discrimination. They can find a job just about anywhere. I don't mean for that to come off as rude, though.

Voted : The rule
Just a guess, but probably the rule, as numerous studies mentioned in the media indicate that there are still a lot of glass ceilings. Since more women are in college than men, I wonder how much longer they can last.

It's natural. Add sub-field and achievement to your controls and you probably won't find any pay advantage for men.
Welcome, lady. THough I should be thanking you, for making me look again at something I'd let go of.
thc, I seriously doubt that. Back when I worked full-time as a supervisor ina warehouse, I made almost $80,000 a year. When I began working there, my supervisor told me that I shold never discuss what I made with anyone else who worked there. I later learned that this was because of the disparity between genders. A woman who'd been hired at almost the same time as I had, having roughly the same responsibility as I had, was amking almost $7,000 *less* than I was. The field's *not level*, and I fear it never will be, as long as attitudes remain the same.
^A warehouse is not academia. I am not sure if men here are less misogynistic than the average man, but we are less prejudiced against women. I believe gender discrimination is still a factor in low and average g jobs, but not in high g professions.
