I have thought about this question and I don't have an answer, but the
few they catch are only a tiny fraction of the predators who are out there succesfully doing what they do. This show actually teaches sexual predators what not to do in order not to get caught.

While there is a degree of deception, those gentlemen who respond get what they deserve knowing (or thinking) they are dealing minors, plus hopefully, there's a deterrent factor for would be predators...

Entrapment is using deception to cause a person to unwittingly commit a crime.
I.E. Obscurely posting a speed limit sign so it can't be seen, A narcotics agent using counterfeit money to purchase illicit drugs and then busting the dealer for having counterfeit money, A vice officer soliciting sex, without discussing how much for the service, and arresting the suspect on soliciting prostitution, etc...

I've seen those programs. I wonder how justifiable those methods would seem if the pederast brought a gun and ended up killing two police officers and the person playing the child.
Whatever you call it I can't say I'm sure I agree or disagree.
