I have to go with Dylan, though this is a very hard choice for me to make. I think he was the best songwriter of the 20th century, though Lennon comes in a close second. You cannot deny the genius behind 'Like a Rolling Stone' or 'Hurricane'.

This is really hard. Some of Dylans songs are just genius, and most of the greats since he came on the scene have been directly influenced by him. But I get the feeling with some of his stuff that he's just taking the piss out of us all by writing meaningless, obscure lyrics about leopard-skin pill-box hats.
