[+] serious ballot by cranky
ACTIVE Sun Mar 04, 07 - Fri Nov 27, 09

Should people who believe they are members of a superior class of humanity, therefore better than most of the rest of the human race, be exempt from punishments that are given out for breaking the rules, committing a crime, or violating a moral code?

Yes, rules are only for the little people, dahling!
No, rules should apply equally, to everyone

COMMENTS:
Ofcourse this is another "shadow ballot" who's true purpose is to speak about a certain user or controversy on this site without mentioning said controvesy or user by name.Judging by this ballot cranky I assumed your a alumi of the Clinton school of sophistry and deception.

Not any different than the two preceding the ballot before this one. You take a shot at him, he shoots back. You get to bicker about it and like freeze dried food, just add water and instant drama.

Yer on yer own here. L8r

Of course not. Those who make the rules should follow them as well. Like if referring to certain material were banned by an unwritten rule, by a rule maker for example? Let's say the rule maker was the first to refer from it. Someone else comments on the same material. The rule maker replies that it is illegal to refer to that, and that punishment is deserved. The latter person replies that the rule maker referred to it too, in fact, was the first to do so. The rule maker ignores this, and punishes him. Thus applying the rule to others, but not himself.

Indeed, such circumstances are regrettable. Rules should indeed apply to everyone equally.

^So, the police should never, under any circumstance, drive faster than the speed limit?
by cranky on Sun Mar 04, 07 9:05am [+]

Thats a trick question. You have ommitted the important qualifier contained within the title, namely;

"Should some be exempt from rules BECAUE THEY BELIEVE THEY ARE SUPERIOR"

Which is not why the police, on certain occassions, are exempt from certain laws. Its out of neccessity to protect/serve the public in some way.

Rules should not apply to me--the fact that they do is a travesty.

If it were true, and exepmtions should be made, then I'd be the Master of All. And that would be a *bad* thing, TB.

I got inalienable equal rights! Rules should be the same for all.
by skylab on Sun Mar 04, 07 10:20pm [+]

cranky - the police, ambulances, firefighters being able to go faster in emergencies is expmlicitly stated as being part of the rules. When they do so, they are not breaking the rules, as those circumstances are referred to within the rules. So when they do so, they are not being exempt from rules at all- it is part of the rules, as explicitly stated in the rule.

So you believe that a webmaster and owner of a web site should have no privileges that any casual shouldn't have, and that you stand by your bashing of LCD?
by cranky on Mon Mar 05, 07 7:20am [+]

cranky- Of course they have privileges, however, it is how they use this power that counts. They certainly are capabale of whatever they want, but how they use this will reflect on exactly what type of website it is that they have.

I have never engaged in LCD-bashing as you have declared. I have merely made enquiries of the direction this website is evolving into.
