French Toast with loads of butter, powdered sugar & syrup!
When I was a kid our family use to take a long drive to a country restaurant called Flapjacks. There was always a 45 minute line-up on the weekends. The pancakes were 4cm thick and served with jellied fruit or real maple syrup, fresh whip-cream and peameal backbacon ("Canadian bacon?"). Each table would get a bottom-less pot of tea (which is rare here).
God, I miss that place. I wish someone would start something like that here. IHOP and Denny's just don't cut it.

It depends on how they're made.
I like my pancakes a little on the thin side and crispy around the edges. Other than that, I'd rather have french toast.

Tough call. The best french toast is probably better than the best plain pancakes. But there's so much more you can do with pancakes - add blueberries, apples, etc. Also, french toast has variables that can seriously affect its taste, like the type of bread you use, the recipe, and the dunking time. It really depends on who's making them. Pancakes, on the other hand, are pretty hard to scew up. So with that in mind, I'm going with pancakes.
