LMNAO for the pic! The "mixed Executive" idea would go over as well as Kev at Fred Phelphs' church.

They will never abandon the two party system. It's this good cop/bad cop scenario that pretty much guarantees that we will get screwed no matter who we vote for.

If two people are running for President, it's hard to imagine the loser willing to be subordinate to the winner. On the other hand, what if Presidential and Vice Presidential elections were separated in that one could theoretically vote for, say, a Democratic President and a Republican Vice President? I like the idea of breaking up partisanship. Additionally, the United States government has retained the same structure (executive, legislative, judicial) for the last 230 years. Back then the population was about 3 million; (closer to 4 million including slaves). Today, the population is about 300 million, and the U.S. is at present the preeminent world power. I firmly believe that the office of President of the United States endows the individual holding it more power than should be given to any one person (or 2 people including the Veep), which is precisely what we sought to avoid when we mapped out the structure of our Government. If I had my druthers we'd reassess the balance of power and degree of representation the system provides. I think a lot of people feel the President has too much power, but ironically it seems an impossible feat to work towards diffusing or diminishing that power to a more reasonable degree in the face of centralized government. Diffusing the power could take the form of something like a 3 or 5-member executive branch. Diminishing it could mean better checks.
