I don't know anything about Disturbed either other than I don't believe they'll have much of a career. Kinda like Linkin Park, pushed by the industry for no apparent reason and then forgotten about once the new thing comes along.
(I don't know zilch about Disturbed or Genesis or especially this 'Linkin Park' .. but I looove Down With The Sickness, even the Richard Cheese version.)

Disturbed is like the best band that can't write lyrics for shit, and it's too bad. Musically they are amazing, great guitar rifts, but come on, "Liberate your mind" said 1000 times in one song is not lyrically intelligent by any means. The album with 'sickness' on it wasn't too bad, well, the first half of the album, but they haven't made anything worth a crap since.
I just thought the Disturbed version was better, I am a metalhead after all. I could pick propaganda songs from back in the day to, but metal is what I'll be covering. I'm just posting songs with lyrics that mean something for today's world. An obvious song is Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", most people know that song, but do they realize the lyrics try to tell you something. I'm a musician/writer myself, not a perfect one(yet), but I'm very aware of bands and lyricists and the meassages they're trying to give us. I'm also very aware that when their messages go unheard they say "fuck the people" and just live comfortably with the wealth they've attained from those people. And I would too, cause if no one listens, then I guess it really is their total and complete, utter loss.
It's pretty funny though, Genesis didn't get the same reaction for this song like Disturbed did, ya know, maybe my generation will be the one to turn things around after all.
