Land of Confusion by: Disturbed

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
been haunted by a million screams
but I can hear the marching feet
they're moving into the street

Now did you read the news today
they say the danger's gone away
but I can see the fire's still alight
there burning into the night

There's too many men
too many people
Making too many problems
and not much love to go around
can't you see
this is the land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make this a place worth living in

OOh Superman where are you now
When everything's gone wrong somehow
the men of steel, the men of power
are losing control by the hour

This is the time
This is the place
so we look for the future
but there's not much love to go around
tell me why, this is the land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

I remember long ago, ooh when the sun was shining
yes and the stars were bright all through the night
in the wake of this madness
as I held you tight, so long ago

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises that we know, we'll never keep
Too many men, There's too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go around
Can't you see
This is the land of confusion

Now this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for
This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to

Good song
Bad song

I don't know anything about Disturbed either other than I don't believe they'll have much of a career. Kinda like Linkin Park, pushed by the industry for no apparent reason and then forgotten about once the new thing comes along.

(I don't know zilch about Disturbed or Genesis or especially this 'Linkin Park' .. but I looove Down With The Sickness, even the Richard Cheese version.)

Disturbed is like the best band that can't write lyrics for shit, and it's too bad. Musically they are amazing, great guitar rifts, but come on, "Liberate your mind" said 1000 times in one song is not lyrically intelligent by any means.

The album with 'sickness' on it wasn't too bad, well, the first half of the album, but they haven't made anything worth a crap since.

I just thought the Disturbed version was better, I am a metalhead after all. I could pick propaganda songs from back in the day to, but metal is what I'll be covering. I'm just posting songs with lyrics that mean something for today's world.
An obvious song is Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", most people know that song, but do they realize the lyrics try to tell you something. I'm a musician/writer myself, not a perfect one(yet), but I'm very aware of bands and lyricists and the meassages they're trying to give us. I'm also very aware that when their messages go unheard they say "fuck the people" and just live comfortably with the wealth they've attained from those people. And I would too, cause if no one listens, then I guess it really is their total and complete, utter loss.

It's pretty funny though, Genesis didn't get the same reaction for this song like Disturbed did, ya know, maybe my generation will be the one to turn things around after all.
