I think it's more than the average American won't do the jobs at the low wages that illegals will. So I'm guessing regular American joe's did these jobs before but at at more re$pectable wage$.

Here is what I meant:
When people say that Mexicans do jobs Americans don't want they are making an argument for allowing illegals to reside in this country de facto legally.
The fact is that these jobs Americans won't do WERE done by AMericans. These are jobs like concrete, warehousing, restaurants, carpentry, plumbing {most of the trades}, landscaping.
You don't see Mexicans doing jobs like accounting clerk. And that is a job most Americans wouldn't want.

It all stems on what a company is willing to pay as a wage. They bring as many illegals as they need, pay the I.N.S some hush money and still a lot cheaper than hiring a U.S. citizen. Ask any executive at Tyson Foods.
