WILL YOU ADMIT JESUS DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS?

Have you ever thought about how bizarre the crucifixion story is? Imagine the all-powerful, all-knowing creator of the universe sitting on his magnificent throne in heaven. He looks down onto earth and says to himself:

Those evil humans down on earth. I hate what they are doing. All this sin...

Since I am all-knowing I know exactly what the humans are doing and I understand exactly why they commit each sin. Since I created the humans in my own image and personally programmed human nature into their brains, I am the direct author of all of this sin. The instant I created them I knew exactly what would happen with every single human being right down to the nanosecond level for all eternity. If I didn't like how it was going to turn out, I could have simply changed them when I created them. And since I am perfect, I know exactly what I am doing. But ignore all that. I hate all these people doing exactly what I perfectly designed them to do and knew they would do from the moment I created them. I HATE IT! I tried killing all the humans and animals once in the flood. That certainly did not fix the problem.

So here's what I am going to do. I will artificially inseminate a virgin. She will give birth to an incarnated version of me. The humans will eventually crucify and kill the incarnated me. That, finally, will make me happy. Yes, sending myself down and having the humans crucify me -- that will satisfy me. I feel much better now.

It makes no sense, does it? Why would an all-knowing being need to have humans kill himself (Jesus is God, after all) to make himself happy? Especially since it is a perfect God who set the whole thing in motion exactly the way he wanted it? The whole story of the crucifixion is absurd from top to bottom if you actually stop to think about it.

The reason this story doesn't make any sense is because it is a lie. The reasons Christians get upset when you challenge this story isn't because they think you are doing the devils work, it's because they know the story is hopelessly flawed and the notion of it's validity is completely stupid. They feel stupid defending it and it makes them angry to have to justify such a stupid idea.

If you don't believe me try convincing an intelligent adult that the tooth fairy is real. He will make you feel stupid by simply pointing out obvious truths that conflict with the notion of a Tooth Fairy. He may even get upset at the notion of having his intelligence so blatantly insulted that he is anything but polite in his dealings with you. You will get upset but in all actuality the legend of the tooth fairy is just as false as any story in the bible. Sure their are historical accuracies to the legend. Children lose their teeth all the time and do manage to find coins under their pillow the next day, but the tooth fairy is imaginary. There may have been a real person named Jesus who was killed for saying he was God, but at the end of the day God is imaginary.

Will you admit Jesus didn't die for your sins?

Yes
No. I wanna believe lies.

Jeez man. Idk... I think if people want to follow a GOOD message, regardless of whether or not the stories behind it are flawed, why get in their way?

ThisIsNate- I'll tell you exactly why we should keep people from following this "good message." If the Pope tells people to respect their fellow man and they do then that is wonderful, especially if it works. The problem is- what happens when he and other religious leaders preach against the use of condoms in AIDS ridden Africa. It can have an even more devastating effect than if a secular person preaches the exact same thing because his word is supposed to be that of God and not held to the scrutiny of fellow men. This tremendous flaw in the doctrines of Christianity and other cults is the number one reason why any ethical person should reject religion as an answer to the moral dilemmas of our age.

He didn't die for my sins! If he did he'd be dying over and over again, daily!
by britvic55 on Fri Mar 16, 07 5:59pm [+]

Robby- I think it's important to be able to distinguish the message of the preachers from the message of the faith. Religious doctrine does not say "do not preach proper contraceptive use or you will be smited" :P That's the dipshit preachers. I hold firm in my belief that the messages of the faith are all good. The messages of those who claim to propagate the faith, not so good. (note- I may have misused some words in an attempt to sound smart. My apologies.)

Some choices you allow, Yes, and no I wanna believe lies? Talk about a loaded question.
You obviously do not know what you are talking about. You are correct in your understanding of it doesn't make any sense. And on that, I say you're understanding is incorrect concerning God and his purpose behind the crucifixion. You will never come to the realization because of your inherent bias toward the whole truth about God. Put aside your dogma and open your mind to other interpretations and perhaps some real enlightenment can come in and have a place to dwell.

The majority of people don't interpret the Bible literally. Mythological, symbolic, and personal interpretations are not things which can be disproven.
