Hey guys. Just thought I'd like to tell you that your Democratic party has just given the green light for the Bush administraion to attack Iran.

Nancy Pelosi quietly had a provision removed in a recent Iraq fund package that stated the White House would need approval from congress before attacking Iran.
The White house can now legally state that the Democratic party has given it's approval if an attack is ever planned. How do you like your Democratic party now?

I never liked them to begin with
They're better than the alternative

That's actually not wholly accurate. Congress wanted to put a provision in that the President would have to seek the approval of Congress to use the military against Iran. Currently, the President technically does not need the Congress to authorize his so called command of the armed forces. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats wanted to make an ammendment that is not currently a legal requirment. They removed it since the whole package would have been defeated and because it in fact is not currently the law. Huge difference in how some in the press would like to spin it.

So in fact, the Democrats did no such thing in terms of givig a green light. The light was alwasy green for Bush. They attempted to change the green light to red. It failed.

Ok...thanks for clearing that up for us foreigners. On a side note, her allegiance to AIPAC should at least be worrying...funny, she doesn't look Jewish.

She doesn't have an allegiance to AIPCA. They are a very powerful lobby for Israel. In fact, they booed her because she stood up to them. The REAL problem here is in fact, AIPAC. They are only loyal to Israel and there are some "conservative" Democrats that do AIPAC's bidding, as to most Republicans. But, I read an article in the Economist that said AIPAC is hurting themselves. Many politicians are tired of AIPAC advancing Israel's causes at our expense and many voters are becoming increasingly vocal that they do not want AIPAC to have ANY infulence over US policy. I think they're constant deceit and meddeling is catching up with them.

So don't blame Nancy Pelosi, because in fact, she held her own with AIPAC. Blame people like Joseph Liberman, who seem more interested in protecting Israel and doing AIPAC's bidding than he does in serving the people who elected him.

AIPAC is on the way out in my opinion.

^Patch said it nicely.

And I don't recall any Republican AIPAC toadies planning a national protest when the provision was pulled.

The Democrats are still better, by a country mile.

And, in part, thanks to AIPAC, the U.S. is on the road to war with Iran. Bush and Cheney can't wait. Bush, due to his Judeo-Evanelical messianic delusion, and Cheney because of all that oil, oil, oil! The U.S. (under Eisenhower) stole the Iranian oil once, I guess they figure they are entitled to do it, again.

They're better than Bush. Politics requires compromise. I don't agree with AIPAC, but how do you feel about jews?
