IS BUSH ONLY ACCOUNTABLE TO THOSE WHO VOTED FOR HIM?

John Bolton was on the Daily Show this week, and his conversation was mostly to tell Jon Stewart that he (Stewart)was wrong, that he didn't know what he was talking about, and that he didn't understand democratic government. However, when Bolton did substantiate his argument at one point, he said that people can't expect advisers (I think they were talking about Rove and Miers over the firing of the state attorneys) to the president to testify to Congress other than behind closed doors and without a transcript, because they have to be able to advice candidly to the President, and should be able to say things to him that they would not want to have to say to Congress. It seems that this advice could be overly partisan, or illegal, or criminal, or something like that so that they would want to keep it so secretive. When Jon Stewart brought that point up, and also the point that Congress serves as a "checks and balances" measure of accountability to the Executive Branch, Bolton responded with the argument that the President has an obligation to represent the people that voted for him. By extension, it seems as if Bolton was saying Bush is not accountable to Congress, or the American people at large.

So do you agree with that? Is Bush only accountable to the people who voted for him, even though his actions and decisions affect all Americans?

Bush is only accountable to the people who elected him
Bush is accountable to Congress
Bush is accountable to the American people as a whole
Bush is accountable only to himself, and God.

Voted : Bush is accountable to the American people as a whole
Bush should be accountable to all Americans. Apparently, though, Bush is only accountable to his mountain bike, Satan, and the ghost of Hitler.

I don't think his advisors passed this little tidbit of info on to him, based on how he has conducted himself in office...

This guy knows who signs his paycheck.

Bolton now describes it as "perfectly legitimate... and good politics" for the Israelis to seek to defeat their enemy militarily, especially as Hezbollah had attacked Israel first and it was acting "in its own self-defense".

Bolton, a controversial and blunt-speaking figure, said he was "damned proud of what we did" to prevent an early ceasefire.

Also in the BBC program , several key players claim that, privately, there were Arab leaders who also wanted Israel to destroy Hezbollah.
