These are actual concept cars developed by the different Auto Makers for the future. They're really coolest of the crop from expos around the world. The descriptions are in the order of the cars in the photo :

The Volt is powered by E-flex, GM's next-generation electric propulsion system that could virtually eliminates trips to the gas station. The battery-powered car has a range of 40 city miles after a six-hour charge from a household outlet. The Volt also has a flex-fuel gasoline engine that extends the range up to 640 miles -- not by driving the wheels, but by creating electricity that powers the car.

The four-door, four-passenger crossover sports coupe 'Chrysler Nassau' features 10-spoke, 22-inch wheels and two glass panels in the roof. Trevor Creed, Chrysler's senior vice president of design, said the car's interior "was inspired by the look of contemporary cell phones, iPods and MP3 players." Under the hood is a 425-horsepower, 6.1-liter V8 engine and five-speed automatic transmission.

Kia's Kue sporty crossover concept has a 400-horsepower, 4.6-liter supercharged V8 engine, an all-wheel-drive system and fat, 22-inch tires. The doors swing up, scissors-style, to reveal seats that swivel; the interior features touchpad and motion-sensing controls for the climate and sound systems. The sensors can be programmed so that one surface controls the climate for one driver and the sound for another. The Kue was unveiled in Detroit this year.

Lexus unveiled its second-generation LF-A high-performance concept car at the 2007 Detroit auto show. The LF-A features a front-mid-mounted V10 engine with a 500-horsepower output and estimated top speed of 200 mph. The transaxle and radiators are in the rear to balance weight distribution. Lexus Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter said, "The first LF-A was a pure concept. This latest concept is much closer to a vehicle that we would bring to market."

The Lincoln MKR concept car, a premium four-door coupe, features a new 415-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo direct injection engine that runs on both ethanol and gasoline. The environmentally friendly interior includes mohair carpet, soy seat foam and a re-engineered oak instrument panel. The double-wing split grille was inspired by the 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. The car was unveiled in Detroit.

Mazda introduced its Ryuga concept car at the 2007 Detroit auto show. Mazda Design Division General Manager Laurens van den Acker said Ryuga -- Japanese for "gracious flow" -- is inspired by Japanese rock gardens. The four-seater sports coupe boasts a 2.5-liter dual-fuel engine that can burn either ethanol or gasoline. The S-curved headlights use LED and fluorescent technology, and the cockpit features blind-spot monitoring, rear-view cameras and rotating seats. The wide gull-wing doors open to reveal the full passenger compartment.

Toyota's FT-HS hybrid sports concept, unveiled in Detroit, features a 3.5-liter V6 engine with an expected 400-horsepower output and 0-to-60 acceleration in the four-second range. The front-engine, rear-drive design was a joint project of Calty, Toyota's research and design center, and the company's Advance Product Strategy Group -- both based in California.
