DW, Some states in the U.S. are 75MPH but mine isn't...it's still a pathetically low 65 on expressways and 55 on two-lane roads. I'd be happy to get expressways up to 75 or 80.
What I hate about it here in Ontario is that people build homes along highways. All of a sudden, people will make a residential area around the highway. Next, they petition for the speed limit to be lowered for the children. That makes me so mad! I mean, it's their own fault for building in that location. We have places to go, and we can't always be doing that at 60km/h.
queen you are so right. same here in central kentucky. yuppies move here because the country side is so--well country and live in houses so close together you can hardly fit a lawnmower between. then want all the conveniences of living in town. soon it is town. why don't they just stay put. interstate speed limit should be 70 mph. it's 80 in some states and unlimited (drive prudently please) in montana it's kind of necessary out west cause it's so vast. makes me wonder how many of those wagon train people went insane on the way out there. they were probably relieved to be attacked by indians to relieve the monotony. i've never driven in canada, i don't know how to drive in kilograms.
Texas has some complicated speed limits: 70 daytime, 65 night for most; 60 daytime, 55 night for large trucks. I think it's still only 55 in New Jersey, even though there are actually parts of the state that aren't urbanized (hard to believe, eh?)
