Horribly. Often I get sweaty, out of breath and heart palps coz I have a full-blown anxiety attack. It doesn't do much for your mood the next day. That painting is SO GREAT. It's one of my faves.

^ It was. I stayed up for most the night after that... tried some chamomile tea to go back to sleep. I get that feeling (presence wise)when I am half-awake and my son is trying to sneak in the room... that is how I know he is there, and I call out to him. No one was there last night lol. FREAKY stuff hehe. It is Cool that other people have simular experiences though.

I know this girl who has TWICE woken up and realized someone was in her room before they bolted out the door. Her parents are rarely home and she often has big parties, gets drunk, leaves doors unlocked or even open... I feel pretty safe in my room though. Being an avid hunter I have a pretty good arsenal in there.
Mojo, you could have an undiagnosed anxiety diorder. Nate, how stupid is that girl?

I have heard of that before, and it is associated with the sleep paralysis you mentioned in your other ballot.
^ I looked it up on the web. CRAZY! Thanks for the mention Cranky. So it is a hallucination? That is strange... since I never actually saw someone, rather than "felt" someone was in the room. Kinda cool to read about though.
I have them too. They are really unsettling.I'll secure the house room by room.I know that it's likely my imagination reacting to some loud noise in the night but I always lsearch just in case ...I have kids. I also have anxiety attacks and it's usually in the form of a long dream where I dwell on separation(in spirit) from loved one's or somebody has died. Otherwise sleep beats the hell out of my daily conscious routine.

I saw your other ballot on sleep paralysis. The sensation of the presence of someone else in the room often accompanies this.

Not in many years...nowadays it's...it's...it's my wife...

I sleep like a rock. Even if there was really someone in my room with a axe to chop my head off i wouldnt notice. Great image you selected btw. "Nightmare" by Henry Fuseli, right?
Voted : Yes
but it's not a presence in the room - it's something else - i'm not sure what - it hasn't happened in a long time. I actually sleep quite well lately. Once i had a nightmare though - where something from a deep dark horrible place was reaching out for me - trying to pull me under. I think it was possibly the worst nightmare i ever had - worse even than the one i still remember from childhood where some monster had us little kiddies strung out on a clothes line and was devouring us one by one (or is that a future memory of what really happens when we die???) anyway - it was a BAD dream and the mood of it lasted and hung over me all the following day - for several days to some extent.
Yup, gorgeous painting... I love the victorian-esque way the woman is pictured in the painting... romatic period, no? There is a certain roundness- womanly apperance that artists incorperated into painting woman in this period, the effect made them look like fruit ready to be bit into ;)
