WILL ROE VS. WADE EVER BE OVERTURNED?

[+] serious ballot by contragrain
ACTIVE Thu Mar 29, 07 - Fri Mar 28, 08

This balloteer is not attempting to sway your opinion on whether it SHOULD or should NOT be overturned. The question is put as simply as I could, and only asks your opinion as to whether it WILL/WILL NOT be overturned. What say you? Please don't make this into a man vs. woman ballot discussion either; unless you have some concrete data that supports the idea that it is the male of the species who most desire this thing. From MY own observations, the most vocal people on this subject (both pro and con) ARE women; but, the men are contributors to the life of the prospective being, and therefore, I allow EVERYONE to participate.

Yes, it will be overturned.
No, it will be upheld forever.

Voted : Yes, it will be overturned.
I think eventually, once the conservatives put enough rightwing activist judges on the Supreme Court.

Voted : Yes, it will be overturned.
America is such a backward place (in some respects) that there is a possibility it might be overturned, yes.
It would be a huge step backward, yes, but the Republicans Puritans would be very happy with such a step, after all with only 6.6 thousand million ppl on the planet, we need every every new person we can get, right?

Since Roe vs. Wade there have been 50 million abortions in the United States. Think about it for a second - 50,000,000. Amd about 49 million of them were perfectly healthy developing babies. In an age with so many birth control devices available, this number is unacceptable as well as disgusting. Any woman (and complicitous man) who aborts a healthy developing baby is guilty of depriving that developing baby a its basic human right. To all you Pro-Death people, please tell me at what point in a woman's pregnancy is it UNACCEPTABLE to have an abortion. If you tell me 90 days, then I'll ask you, "Why not 91 days?" If you say 120 days, why not 121? What's the difference? What it the cut-off point?
by Bostonian on Fri Mar 30, 07 4:19pm [+]

Voted : No, it will be upheld forever.
It will probably last for practical (lesser of evil) reasons. Whether you like it or not, desperate people will do desperate (and dangerous) things if they think they have to.

I hope that the Politicans and the radical Prolifers will stay out of the wombs of women and not overturn Roe V Wade. To overturn Roe v Wade will cause desperate women to have back alley abortions or go back to the wire hanger method of years past.

Exactly what source(s) are you getting your numbers Bostonian?

You and no other person have the right to tell a woman what she can or can not do with her body, let alone over turning Roe V Wade...

Some Pro Lifers go waaaay too far dictating to women, after all, slavery was abolished/outlawed quite sometime ago...

And by the way, your numbers are waaaaaaaay off as well and I for one am not surprised... 025

BBC, you asked for the sources of my numbers and here they are. If you add the average number of abortions per year (1,365,730) for the years 1999 - 2006, it comes very close to 50 million.

Total abortions from1973 to 1998 -- 38,010,378
(Based on numbers and estimates reported by the Alan Guttmacher Institute 1973-1996,with NRLC
estimates of 1,365,730 for 1997 and 1998. AGI estimates a possible 3% underreporting rate,
which is factored into the total.)
Source for statistics for 1973 through 1992: Stanley K. Henshaw, et al.,"Abortions Services in the United States, 1991 and 1992," Family Planning Perspectives, vol.26, no.3 (May/June 1994), p.101.

Do those numbers shock you?

Again, your numbers are waaaaay off, they reflect the prolifers numbers to bolster their unreasonable agenda...

I will not be moved by those made up numbers (and I will play along here, even if those numbers are accurate, you, I and no one else have no business nor the right to busy in any woman's uterus).

Are you prepared for the dead women who will resort to any means necessary to have an abortion if Roe v Wade is overturned? We will have dead women and so call dead developed babies (as you put it) then what?

Also, are you prepared to support those babies born to women who did not want to give birth to them in the first place? NO, of course you and the other proliferts aren't...You guys are so quick to give advice and push your own closed minded and rigid ideology on others, the prolifers should take care of their own houses and stay out of others...

I can not understand why people refuse to leave others alone to live their lives as they see fit, if abortion goes against what God wants for mankind, then God will take of the matter with each individual accordingly.

Correction: "...will take *care* of the matter..."

"Again, your numbers are waaaaay off, they reflect the prolifers numbers to bolster their unreasonable agenda..."
-BBC-
No, they're not. There are many other sources that show the same numbers. How many abortions do you think there have been in the United States since 1973?

"Are you prepared for the dead women who will resort to any means necessary to have an abortion if Roe v Wade is overturned?"
-BBC-
Yes.

"Also, are you prepared to support those babies born to women who did not want to give birth to them in the first place?"
-BBC-
Of course not. Why should I? I didn't get them pregnant. Have you ever heard of "personal responsibility?"

Why don't you answer my question about when in a pregnancy it's NOT ok to have an abortion? Come on, give me a cut-off point - 2 months? - 5 months?
