From "Slaughterhouse-5" to "The Sires of Titan" to "A Man Without A Country", the man showed a level of skill that I can't even contemplate a match for. I friend of mine asked me for a good reading recommned three days ago, and I tossed out Vonnegut at first thought. After the reports of his death began to fly out, he asked me if I could recommend a writer of equal caliber. I still can't.

I KNOW I would have liked him in real life. Another great one gone.

Hey what was that one he wrote where pretty people had to wear stuff to make'em look ugly?

I read his stuff in school. I read alot of other writer's stuff. Vonnegut is the only one whose stuff I continued to read after graduating.
I preferred his humor and political stance, especially against the Vietnam war...He was more than a writer, he was a social activist, he served his country and received the purple heart..."The Slaughter House 5" was certainly one of his best works...
