The thing that I'm confused about is why some people would rather be angry about an issue and still do nothing than be ignorant of an issue and be content. I don't mean this in an accusatory way either. I'm just saying that I will see people bring up how outraged they are about some issue while eating a twinkie and typing out their anger and disgust. Now that's all well and good, but I would rather acknowledge that I'm never going to do jack shit about it and get on my merry way.
your first assumption is wrong nate. this isnt about anger. ignorance is not an excuse. go your merry way, but remember people are dying so you can piss about. Angry? no not really. people like you piss me off tho.
Voted : National health care is overdue
America needs it.
I don't think you understood a word I said. Tell me about all the money you donate and letters you write to senators. That would change my mind completely. My problem is with people who think pissing and moaning about problems solves things, and yet refuse to do the simplest thing to contribute. Write a representative. Donate what you can. Do humanitarian work. Volunteer time. Never once did I address you specifically so there's no reason to get personal with me. Why you say that "people like me" piss you off is beyond me.
Voted : National health care is overdue
Centuries overdue, IMO. But what the frack do *I* know?

The things you mention are not on my conscience. Were it up to me, we would have universal healthcare, and the only way we would be involved in a war would be to repel enemy invaders from our shores. However, capitalism demands an underclass of poor laborers, and universal healthcare would deprive a class of the superrich of their wealth.

Economic liberalism centers around the idea that individuals should not be forced to have their private property taken away from them. Therefore the issue at hand of individualism is indeed an issue of freedom. Whether or not this is fair or just or good is completely beside the point. The point is it is freedom nonetheless.
What does Christianity have to do with this?
Anyway, forced collectivism to fund such national health care is not freedom. Once again, whether this is good or bad is beside the point. The point nonetheless is that 'freedom' of the individual is not expressed through forced collectivism, but rather through the individualism of which each individual is of a free will to decide what to do with their wealth.
This isn't even about fucking health care. jeez
"OH MY GOD WHY IS THE UNITED STATES NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS (insert country name with a problem here)" This is just more proof that you can't ever please everyone, and that you can NEVER please some people, like this ballot maker. He has a problem with Iraq, where we were sent to help people, and doesn't realize that should the US go into Africa to try and make some changes, the same sort of bullshit would happen, because insurgents are everywhere, and the media has set up the map on how to make the US military look like villains.
