I'd heard different accounts as to his status. The most frequent one was that he couldn't post ballots, but could access his account. None of his old pals appear to have contradicted this.
So, what's the actual situation?
If he's ACTUALLY just miffed, then consider this a "herz, come back" kind of ballot...
I"m honestly not too sure, something happened b/w LCD and Herzog on a ballot about Israel and anti-semeticsim. I think herz accused LCD of anti-semetism and removed his superuser status, i thought that was all, but I really don't know the entire situation.

I used to post choices on his ballots just to get a predictable response. Not that I agreed with the guy, or anything like that. I don't know exactly why he got expelled, though.
Hello again, aya, we'd just been incredibly busy making some improvements to our house here or contracting with others to handle it. We've done a great deal since we moved in ten months ago, but my wife, in particular, has some more ideas. I also have been quite busy with my work and, in my spare time, with expanding my rare book collection. I'd been on a Victorian/Edwardian kick, thus all of the Sherlock Holmes business. I've a weakness for thrillers and the like from that era. This afternoon, I split my time between the local building supply company, a tree nursery, and reading a truly demented Edwardian comic novel, Clouston's THE LUNATIC AT LARGE.
I always hated final exams--and I was in college for a very long time, a decade cumulatively.
The herzog mystery continues.
I think they should also bring back FiddleFaddleOnLSD. At gunpoint if necessary.

Aya is right. Herzog can come back at any time, as can FiddleFaddleonLSD. LCD is not preventing it. Maybe they made a personal choice or are busy or something, but I don't think there is any reason preventing Herzog from returning.

From what I have heard, he is not even capable of sending public/private messages... if so claims of "free to particpate" clashes with reality. Of course, he is not officially banned, but I would hardly call such a status 'free to participate' either.
LCD took away all his karma and blocked him from making ballots or comments at the time after herzog condemned the use of anti-semetic sites as unreliable sources. He got in trouble for sourcing a site, even though he only mentioned it to condemn it, and even though LCD specifically sourced it first.
However, I am not exactly sure what his exact status is now. But I have heard that he still cannot even send public/private messages.

I think Herzog had a problem with LCD creating a banner a the top of the page about Herzog. I don't blame Herzog for leaving after that type of bullshit.

Well the results changed so quickly from a clear 'yes' majority to a sudden 'no' majority, that I think it is safe to suggest that this is mostly the consequence of a fool with numerous aliases. So the results cannot be trusted.

To the best of my knowledge, LCD prevented Herzog from sending messages due to a large number of repeated challeges being sent to LCD. Herzog is welcome on the site, but as previously mentioned, his capacity for participation on here is equivent to being expelled. The status is unprecedented. I think if LCD isn't going to expel him, then he should restore him~
Please LCD, Herzog is one of the best users on the site. I hope you will forgive any offense you feel and restore him. Afterward, simply do what tell us to do when we're bugged by someone and block him. Lead by example, "Do as I say not as I do" has never been an acceptable philosophy.
Others may think of it as an admission you were wrong, that's understandable, but I would think of it as being merciful and caring, like a parent. Forgiveness is divine, and will clear the resentments from the mind.
Why won't you restore him and just block him? It would make more sense than the current disposition.

I've been gone a while but I'm amazed at how loyal people are to this site and how regular so many post. I always liked the way Herzog stuck to his guns even though I often disagreed. He seemed to say what he really believed and was as tactful as his strong opinions allowed. I also wonder if Kev 24 will return and does anyone know what happened to Guy Cabalerro. Wasn't he in Iraq, I hope he's ok.

Agreed but I doubt it will happen. He wasn't abusive like a number of other users that have free reign of this site. Users that call women the most vulgar of names (including the "c word"), that engage in childish banter and appear not to have anything of redeeming value to add to this site.

It wasn't just herzog. It included me as well. It was in regards to a poor ballot LCD came up with. The criticism and responses LCD received on this ballot is what led to the negative chain of events. The same nearly happened to me but I think based on an earlier comment LCD had made that he was wanting to get rid of herzog. Just my opinion.

Odd I chose today to look over some ballots. I've been busy and actually having more fun. More fun certainly than a website now dominated by leftist extremists. Not much fun being the only moderate to liberal democrat.
He should be reinstated fully ASAP. All this ordeal accomplished was the silencing of several people (not just herzog). There have been a number of users who have left since this event.

I think things have been much clarified by this ballot, so I hope we might be able to bring some genteel pressure to bear to bring old herzog back. He was a necessary catalyst for some fascinating verbal conversations and, intermittently, brawls about here. ...And, as the ideological purity has increased, the site threatens to become something it never was before...unendingly dull. That, truly, is an undeserved fate for the place.
Now, I've a busy week before me, so I may be scarce again for a few days. I leave with much regret and perhaps some hopefulness.

I noticed there was some confusion as to my actual status on here and the reason for my leaving. So I felt I ought to spend a moment clearing some things up.
1) I am not free to participate on this site. Apparently the notion that I am free to participate on this site at any time has spread with some success, however I have to tell you that is a bald-faced lie. I came back briefly after he expelled me initially to clear up some misconceptions that had arisen about the situation with what I felt was a very well worded and fair ballot, it was immediately wiped. So I made another one several days later, again, like the first one it was wiped immediately after I hit submit. Either LCD was very much on the ball and was able to immediately wipe both mere seconds after I had posted them or he has it set up to automatically remove any ballots/comment I post. In both cases a reason was never given, they were simply removed immediately. And you can check my list of ballots to verify this, my last two will appear as wiped.
2) I am currently unable to send messages to any user.
Whenever I try either public or private messages I get this warning:

The sole exception seems to be that I am able to respond to public messages on my own userpage. But that's it. BTW, I'd like to take this moment to thank everyone who has stood up for me as I couldn't really do it in private. Although I can still recieve your Private messages I can't respond, so I hope no one felt I was ignoring them. Feel free to keep sending me PMs, I do check them from time to time, but be careful as they are most definately monitored.
3) Even if this banned-in-everything-but-name ban is lifted I will still not participate without some promise on LCDs end to refrain from further politically influenced censorship. I do spend a fair amount of time researching and witting out my ballots/comments and I don't appreciate the fact that they can and will simply be removed on a very arbitrary basis if they happen to go against the site owners own beliefs. That is his right, as owner of this site, but I don't have to contribute to a forum that does not respect freedom of speech, and I refuse to do so.
4) I would advise everyone to do their own research on Chris Bollyns site (the site which LCD quoted extensively from then banned me for pointing this out). It is quite disturbing and I think you will see why I took such offense to his using it. Try http://www.XXXXhewitness.com/Bollyn.html, the XXXX = iamt. Quite an eye-opener.
So I think that about sums up my position. I have had fun on this site and would like to return one day as I greatly enjoy conversing with so many interesting people (the good users far outnumber the trolls, although it sometimes doesn't seem that way, heh). But I won't be coming back under the condition that I never disagree with the sites owner or face punishments and or expulsion. I refuse to participate under such limiting conditions.

the short time that I banned him was result of dealing with his cronies wasting my time believing what he wrote on his page - much like him they seem to have a learning disability, they don't seem to comprehend or just don't give a flying ass about reality.
