Raping for Jesus
I agree that some people use Christianity as a front, and that some Christians do fall from the Grace of God, but that's very few in comparison to those who do live their lives as Christians. So, are you saying that anyone who has committed a crime isn't capable of turning their lives around and becoming a Christian? That's what Jesus' ministry was about. Spreading the word of God and converting the sinners.

They let just anyone say they have religion, including the BTK killer and a New Jersey lady that starved her adopted sons and went to church. Actions count, words don't.

I hate to make it seem sex is all I can talk about, but it applies. A minister told me sex was sin before marriage , gave me that lecture, , but he said if I did have sex , ask for forgiveness and I would receive it, but I refuse to do that because I know I'll do again, and again and again, and I would feel like a hypocrite. Kill someone say I'm sorry, kill someone again say I'm sorry again, I really don't think that is what was meant , but I do think a lot of people who call themselves Christians believe that. Anyone can say they are Christian, I can say I'm a Martian , dosen't mean I am. This is just my humble opinion
I also won't ask for forgiveness to something I don't' believe needs forgiving I should have just said that and made my long story shorter

Not to unlike the many who, because they get a degree, go into a profession and under the most egregious pretenses, create great harm in the name of their profession. (I.E. Attorneys, Doctors, pychiatrists (? sp) and Surgeons, Judges, politicians, Teachers, Social Workers, etc.) It's a sad fact about human nature that many can not accept the responsibility for their own limitations and use creditials like religous faith or degrees of study to exemptlify the fact they're human prone to error. We are not obligated to accept their individual claim of salvations either. Some come to know the truth of their sins and rectify it, others use it as an excuse. Don't make the mistake of grouping them all together, nobody is, after perfect.
oops, see! That's after all, perfect. Larry, a pastor or preacher tells you what he vbelieves, that's not necessarially what you have to believe. Make up your own mind about right and wrong. It's written in your conscience.
"So, are you saying that anyone who has committed a crime isn't capable of turning their lives around and becoming a Christian?" I am saying that is *exactly* what a majority of people do. They turn around and become Christian but that doesn't mean that they turn their lives around. I am stating that a majority of prolific predators hide behind Christianity, since the main focus is to be "forgiven through Jesus" and dedicating your life to him. That doesn't make them innocent of the crime they commited... and often resorts into a learned behavior that you can commit no greater wrong since you are saved in the eyes of the almighty.
I'm saying the same thing with the exception that a good many people whomay not be christains do the same thing hiding behind their education.
Also, it really doesn't matter in the eye of the law what they profess, The law isn't so forgiving as their conscience.
^ Law is corrupt and rarely ever serves justice. Victims are continually victimized while perpetratiors are sent out to start new, fresh lives... The law is about as forgiving as Jesus supposedly is.
Voted : They hide behind their personal twisted view of Christianity
From my experience most Christians have no understand of what that label entails. In fact most practicing Christians make a mockery of Jesus' teachings.

"A prisoner on Death Row who says he found Jesus, et c, doesn't mean he did." Newgirl, I don't think you understood the context of "found Jesus." What the prisoner meant was that he found Jesus Garcia in the shower.
I know in Washington State, only a jury can impose the exceptional sentence whether it's lienent or severe. State Law requires Judges to follow the sentencing guidelines. Basically, it doesn't matter whether you're repentent or defiant, everyone gets sentenced in the same range. This pretty much dictates the laws in my State at least are not so forgiving to the profession of faith.
