What about where they live? Right there "in front of God and everybody?"
^for those atheistically or agnostically inclined, "in front of God..." is an expression, nothing more. It means in broad daylight, out in the open.
Voted : Nope. I just couldn't do it.
I don't hug total strangers, whether they're with home or without. In general, I dislike close contact with anyone with whom I'm not romantic.
It actually gives me the creeps to have a complete stranger hug me or get me in a bear hug. It just seems bizarre to me that anyone could do that. That's probably why the only sports I ever have really enjoyed are baseball and mountain hiking & biking. Neither's known for a lot of invasion of personal space or backslapping by other players.
Voted : Sure, if they want a hug, under certain circumstances, I'll give it.
Not much choice in the matter. That's a mile-in-someone-else's-shoes I've had to walk in my life. I kno that homelessness isn't always the exclusive province of the insane or the drug-addicted.
Sometimes I look in the eyes of some people living on the streets and I want to give them a hug, they say eyes are window to the soul or something like that, but it's true, some people just look so lost and lonely. It's sad world we are living in.

um..... i think maybe i did. i came out of the post office the other day, and an old man was asking for money so he could get a cup of coffee...... (or whatever). so i gave him a few dollars. He really seemed surprised and asked if he could share it with his friends (go figure - it wasn't really that much) Then he asked if he could give me a hug. So i said sure and hugged him back. I think I got more out of the experience than he did.
Voted : other, see comment
I hugged the guy who lived on my street in NYC, I used to live at 7th & A in the village and an old man named Jimmy lived on our street with his dog Suzanna. When I moved away I was so sad to leave them :( I don't REALLY want to hug people I don't know though, whether they have homes or not. And I spend all my time in a suburb now anyway.

No. One, I don't hug strangers. Two, it's a homeless person that probably hasn't bathed in weeks. Three, he might jack my wallet.
If the homeless person was not offended sure I'd give them a hug. No skin off my nose to hug someone. It hurts to be poor and homeless society that is kind fortune blinds people to how close to being unfortunate and homeless they really are.So if you fear the homeless or are too hostile check your own finances and fears don't take it out on poor people in a system sastacked against all of us but the top 1 percent wealthy. What I give I give without strings and it does not diminish me because I do not fear losing.. Better to have freinds than all this stuff.
