I would say it's more about dehumanizing muslims themselves by focusing on cultural extremes and repeatedly broadcasting these events over and over.It has a bewitching effect on the less informed,intentionally.
A well balanced system of checks and balances is a precious thing.By design we have a system of checks through executive,judicial and legislative branches.In reality checks and balance includes not just-

*legislative
*judicial
but also
*corporate/financial institutions
*communication/media

You see in Nazi Germany, even before the 'final solution' Jews were forbidden from owning radios, etc, etc. There signs on pubilc benches that said 'not for Jews', there were direct references to race and national identity and that Jews could never be 'German'. Jews were explicitly labeled inferior, there were laws saying they had less property rights, explicitly less right to business, etc.

Some of that is. See how often anyone supporting Islam is called un-american or other derogatory types of segregation comments by the USA's media, and the way some people are treating Muslims. The police and many authorities in western countries seem to behave with the attitude that all muslims are potential terrorists who have to prove themselves innocent. If they have dark skin and get on a plane, and start praying in Arabic they could be arrested and imprisoned for a couple of weeks. If some neighbor makes an accussation of terrorist associations, a muslim man might very eaily be "disappeared" into some CIA-run torture prison in a foreign country.
Its funny, that bit about bringing down Germany must have missed the tens of thousands of jews who fought for Germany in World War One...

Not all Muslims or interpretations of Islam are Wahhabist, so it is not Islam as a whole that is being segregated. Most American Muslims themselves are against the likes of Wahhabism. That's not the entire truth and you know it, so you're deliberately misrepresenting the reality there. Islam as a whole is being treated as Un-American, even when the Islamic people themselves are American citizens. The racism and religious hatred being preached against Islam is everywhere in the USA these days.
