Why would you question someone about their faith? I don't care if a person believes in a god or gods, my problem is when the person feels justified to use violence against others as part of his beliefs, regardless of what religion it is. Violence in the name of any god is wrong.
^erm arent you in iraq because bush said god told him to invade iraq?

Being religious and believing in a supreme being or beings does not always mean the same thing. A person can believe and never tell anyone. His faith is still real. To try to prove it would be to go against his quietness, which is the way he has his faith. On the other hand, being religious, to my way of thinking, is performing rituals, or going to a certain place, or excersizing a prescribed form of worship. They are not necessarily mutally inclusive or exclusive.
your not even smart enough to vote on your own comment jappy. sigh
forgetmenot i'm not suggesting that people who keep it to themselves should ever be under scrutiny. not that the disparity is real. But it would be nice for once if a religious person could prove evidence of their understanding of scripture. i know more about christianity than most christians and im a thrice damned atheist :D.

Cop out excuse is this: What if there was an official but bad qualification? That would be worse than none.
^yeah but thats true of everything.

Everyone, without exception, adheres to subjective opinions, leaps of faith and inconclusive theologies unrelated to God or 'religion'. Modern Society's practice many ceremonial rituals and illogical functions so ingrained in our cultures and lifestyles we don't even precieve their existence. We sponsor and make a big production about High School Proms, Weddings and divorces, we Propose Toasts and Pass out cigars at the arrival of a new baby. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, force mandatory retirement in business, we establish elite clubs, exclusive organizations and social cliques barring the laymen, commoners, and riff raff, We segrigate communities, draw cultural lines and refer to the classes as them people. We dislike everything, everyone and denounce behaviors we clearly fail to understand. We form baseless predilections and blind prejudices against secular rule, administrator's are power mad tyrants, the judicial system is corrupt, lawyers are crooks and liars, doctors are hacks, news media is biased, enviromentalists are bleeding heart liberals, industrialists are ecological terrorists, capitalism is explotation, communism is slavery. Geeks hate Jocks, Jocks hate Hoods, Hoods hate Socies, Aryans hate Jews, East hates Weat, the Rich are greedy, the Poor are lasy, illicit drugs are distroying society, Arabs are terrorists, Blacks are unevolved, pro choice, pro life, Atheism vs Creationism..... And then of course there's the psychics, the witch doctors, xenophiles and xenophobes, and, then there's those idiots who believe in God. Post something you know about!
"^yeah but thats true of everything." If it's true of everything, why do you single out religion?

To paraphrase Keith Giffen, I can't participate in this ballot, because both Heaven and Hell have thrown me out and barred my return.
Is that an oxymoron, Truth? Because you participated, neener neener neener ;o)
it dpesnt matter what you say passiveson you are a sad sad amn. and on that most of us can agree.... NEXT!
and i cant spell. but u get the gist of it?
Another of mankinds infamous failings: When you can't discredit the message attack the messager. The difference is, what I contributed is justified by reasonable facts, but what you contributed is prejudice and indifference. Your disposition is based on unproven beliefs equivacal to the criteria you apply to people with religous values. I submit a reasonable question. Provide a reasonable answer. After all, you did invite the opposition with the ballot. Such is the case, you can respond graciously and defend your preposition, or, assimulate, accept and learn, or, remain bitterly prejudiced in deliberate ignorance of the logic. Enlightenment is not the enemy, you just choose to remain in darkness.

I don't understand why people should be criticized for being religious. If that's what keep them going in this shite world, more power to them. On the other hand...I don't think they should criticize me for not being religious, or try to prosletyze. Respect works both ways.

People should be free to believe in what ever abstract notion they want- be it 'god' or 'chi' or 'astrology' and they shouldn't feel examined for having fascinations with such ideas. A gigantic leap for some to understand this, a small step for most.
passiveson all your doing is stereotyping everything, you dont get an answer because youve not really said anything. all the things you suggest carry the weight of peer pressure. but none of them rely on belief, much akin to socrates's ridiculous assertion that its easy for him to understand reality. he doesnt but that does not stop him from justifying himself as correct. while it may be true that we all use subjective opinions some of them are at least based on intelligent observation. but to make sure you get it wrong you need to add a stupid comment at the end. I dont think you even understood the ballot tbh.
