interesting question - as a taxpayer - i guess i feel i should have some access to the stuff my tax money has already paid for rather than it simply going to waste. does it support violence? does violence need any more support? I've bought cast iron cookware - i use it to cook food (duh!) which i share with family and friends. i suppose it WOULD make a good weapon though - maybe i need to sleep with one of those pans under my bed?
It's been years since I've been to a military surplus store... I assumed it was surplus the military didn't purchase and the vender pawned it off on a buyer. They were great for boots.

Not at all
i like it when the surplus they're selling are army men. or marines if i'm into some light s&m that day. i like going into army surplus stores and trying the surplus army men on a consigment basis -- if i like them, i can return the next day and pay for him. if not, i can exchange him for a different size and even color (sometimes i like more exotic dark army men). man, the military is always thinking of new and cool stuff. army surplus stores - who'd a thunk it.

I love going to surplus stores. I get a lot of usefull stuff there for the house, land, and for camping. And it's a good bit cheaper too than going to some specialty sporting goods store.

No, because the military would just throw it away. Actually, after WW II, the military did just that. Some knuckleheaded bureaucrat decided that all the surplus left from the war might hurt private enterprise if it were sold to the taxpayers, so massive amounts of gear were dumped in the ocean, run over with tanks, or otherwise scrapped.

It's where Mr. bin Laden buys his dress duds. Try the dehydrated ice cream. It's pretty good.
