WHAT IF YOU FOUND OUT THAT YOU WERE THE PRODUCT OF A ONE NIGHT STAND?

[+] serious ballot by contragrain
ACTIVE Fri May 18, 07 - Sat May 17, 08

I am going to describe a scenario for the description. Put yourself in this person's "shoes" (they may, or may not exist as a personal friend of mine):
Assume you have a WONDERFUL relationship with your "dad" who (along with your mom) raised you all your life.
Now, assume that your mom and dad likewise also have a WONDERFUL relationship with each other, and are still married.
Also, assume that you are "one of the 'beautiful' people" endowed by genetics and creation with intelligence and physical attractiveness. (lol, I'm not saying you aren't)
Finally, assume that ONE DAY, AS AN ADULT, YOUR MOTHER, IN A PRIVATE CONVERSATION WITH HER, REVEALS TO YOU THAT YOUR "DAD" ISN'T YOUR BIOLOGICAL FATHER. YOU WERE CONCEIVED IN THE "HEAT OF THE MOMENT" WHEN SHE CAME ACROSS THE MOST PHYSICALLY ATTRACTIVE MAN SHE EVER SAW, AND SHE, IN A WEAK MOMENT, JUST "HAD TO 'BE' WITH HIM." She doesn't even know his name, and couldn't tell you where to find him. How would you feel?

That would be GREAT!
I'd be neutral.
That would SUCK!

This happened to me when i was 12, i was shocked but my adopted dad wasn't ever there much so it's not like i had a dad either way....and my dad i grew to concider my dad is not much of a dad.

My mom does know his name though and ironically it's Ron Jones...sounds like she just pulled that name out of a hat!

So i learned when i was 12 that i was a half sister to all my younger siblings and never met (and they've all argued at any ideas i had of even LOOKING for my real dad) my real father who had blonde hair and blue eyes and looked exactly like me, my mom has dark brown hair and brown eyes.

I don't think he even knew my mom was pregnant...because it was a one night stand.

I missed out on the father daughter bond big time, my "dad" has never bonded, i mean we get a long ok but he's never even said "i love you" in my lifetime that i remember and i'd remember!

That's my story, sorry it's long!

But i am jealous that the person in your description has a good relationship with their "dad"!

The good would outweigh the bad.

interestingly enough, I was eveavesdropping on a conversation one day, and a guy told his friend that when his mom was 16, she was drunk at a party and had sex with a guy and became pregnant with him. But she never even knew his name. I thought that was sad.

Families just seem to be breaking up, if you have a kid, you should give your kid lots of love.

She did however, remember his name, size of genitalia and that he was a horrid drunk that wanted to molest cats. My mother got full custody of me and remarried later.

I never felt lost or without something, I am full and complete.

water under the bridge at this point in my life. If my "dad" raised me as his daughter - he would still be my Dad to me. Biological relationships are over-rated unless they are accompanied by emotional contact.

While it's not good, I guess it's better than being the product of a "three dog night"...

When my daughter was 15, she had a friend in school who said that she was the product of a date rape. Why on earth would the child's mother tell her that, even if it is true?
by RunsWithScissors on Sat May 19, 07 8:44pm [+]

^ Children deserve to know the truth... I am sure the daughter would feel lucky to have such a devoted mother that decided to keep her.

I mean even at 15 you can understand human nature.
