I know people who have been through horrible upbringings, it is very sad : ( No matter what though, they still had a choice in the direction of their life.

Families from hell ruined the lives of people I know.
Nope, I think that as an excuse is bollox. We weren't far off neglected and every one of us have had success at what we chose to do. Some just look for someone else to blame for their own inadiquicies. No disrespect meant to anyone on this ballot who said yes. I'm sure it could effect your motivation, but ultimately the choice to rise above it is yours.
Myself, I took it as a challenge to prove to my parents that they should have loved me more! I think I did it. If that makes sense.

^ Agreed. I've known very successful people who have come from horible homes and I've known complete losers who we're brought up by families who put the Cleavers to shame.
^I like britvic55's comments, but I don't know exacly what they mean. I do know people from bad families who are wonderful and intelligent people, but things like child molesting, for example, do terrible damage to people who don't deserve it. To those who overcome, so much the better.
'We weren't far off neglected and every one of us have had success at what we chose to do.' Maybe that's confusing you. We, being me and my siblings.
