and before anyone gets their underwear all in a knot, lets consider this -- people form opinions about the usa based on their experiences with the few real americans they have ever met. so don't preach to me. if it's okay for people to form opinions on the usa and the american people that way, then surely it's okay for us to form opinions on, say, mexico that way. right?

What they did, booing the lass and chanting Osama is plain stupid. It's also not a great idea to carry mexican flags in US soil as it hurts their cause.
However let me remind you that you yanks constantly look down on them and that created an enormous feeling of resentment towards the USA. They even prefer us Europeans, former colonialists "bastardos", than you Americans.

^Forgive the horrible cliche Kev but two wrongs don't make a right,just because the some Mexicans are fools and form there opinion about America from a few intractions with American does not mean that we must follow in their third world behavior and descend into ignorance with them.
Let them boo and jeer at American athletes and beauty queens it's the only way they can vent their disappointment and frustration with their own failed government.

seamus, to your point -- that's the issue here, isn't it? they have their own country, so if they want to come here, fine, but you can't expect a warm welcome if this is how you act. that should be pretty clear.

^ beelz you should consider putting the story with that picture. here's what happened --
"Over the weekend, militant illegal alien activists marched onto a post office station in Maywood, Calif., and replaced the American flag with a Mexican flag while chanting anti-American epithets."
There's video of the Mexican flag stunt in Maywood here (starts at around 3:05). And this video gives a flavor of the confrontation. Note the lovely language and hand gestures of the pro-illegal reconquista crowd, who taunt the pro-law enforcement demonstrators as "illegal blue eyed devils" and "motherf**kers." But don't worry, we're told. This is just "fringe:"
so they want us to welcome them here, but they pull these stunts? they're only hurting their cause with all of this idiotic behavior.

It's okay for Mexicans to heckle whomever they choose. Free speech is free even if we don't like it.
Mexicans are hypocrits. They are mad at the US because of our immigration policy. They seem to think they have the right to swarm across our borders by the millions and expect all the rights of a US citizen. Yet if you look at the way Mexican authorities treat illegals comming across their southern border (most likely on their way to the US) it is FAR worse. A bit of a double standard.
Seamus, if Mexico shared a 2,000 mile border with Europe and they were pouring across Europes borders I doubt the majority of Europeans would be happy about it, thus you'd find Mexicans accusing you guys of looking down on them. Mexico is very corrupt. They have created their own problems. But I guess it's easier to blame the US.

That's what I think about it too, right after the invasion of Iraq some American little league players, {talking about children here), were booed and even their bus was pounded on in Canada, I have no problem whats so ever speaking out and protesting against America's policy, but things like this are not necessary.
Rude, boorish, unfair behavior. Very low class.
Of course, what kind of moron actually attends the Miss Universe pageant, anyway?
Still, I thought it was hilarious when she fell on her ass.
This type of thing has happened before at sporting events. Our athletes have had trouble with Mexican spectators. We don't have this problem with other countries. The problem with Mexicans is that they don't know how to seperate politics from sports, a pagent such as Miss Universe or any other type of event.
