I can always tell if a politician is a liar, and I always vote for them. Honest politicians creep me out. They're freaks because it's just not normal to be an honest politician.

Not always. Politicians running for office that give people hope and optimism often win. A person who is negative on his opponent and negative about the country don't usually do well. Playing to people's values is also a significant factor. Also, if you run against an opponent who the voters view as weak or incompetent, you can win without lying. Example... Reagan vs. Carter.
