Just what is it that makes an American tourist so noticeable?

Only person with a bottle of ketchup on table at sidewalk cafe
Speaks very slowly and very loudly
Watch for them grazing around the local McDonalds
Hawaiian shirt, shorts and a camera around neck
They're the fattest people in the tourist-trap bar
Always complaining about the lousy service
^ In some cases all of the above...
They ask where the Krispy Kreme is in Ouahu
they don't stink.
American tourists are not noticable
Doesn't understand why few people speak English.

American tourists are not noticable. It's a lie to say that they are.

The above theories are false. The McDonalds thing for example? Nah, all tourists from most countries have that tendency actually. Even if they don't like Mcdonalds. For example a lot of Japanese tourists in India find themselves drifting toward McDonalds there, not because they like it, but because they know it and may feel more comfortable with the idea of it rather than buying the food sold on the streets.
