There have been claims that John Wilkes Booth was not the person killed in the barn fire by Union Soldiers. But they claimed it was, to satisfy public demand that Lincoln's killer was caught.
Supposedly Booth really did escape and live for many years afterward. Is this possible?

I thought I read that Union soldiers didn't kill Booth; rather, Booth killed himself. Though the Guntown story is entirely possible.

I am a Booth relative and as a child I was told Booth did not do it and did not die in the farmhouse. My grandmother, Ruby Booth told this to our family. Her father was Enoch Booth
