"Tree Hugger" is someone who unrealistically, idealistically takes stances on environmental issues. For example, "tree huggers" stopped the construction of the TVA dam, which benefitted millions of people, because of the existent of a tiny fish called a "snail darter." We need environmentalists, but not extremists.

You should have beat them with a branch! I'm a tree hugger! My hubby has this frind Ty and he cuts trees for a living but swears he only clears areas...what's the difference??? lol He wants to make us all treeish-whatever countertops (what do you guys call them?) anyways and i told Jesse to tell him i don't want trees being cut for countertops, fuck sake. Ty told Jesse to tell me that he would use pre-cut wood but still... I'm not a hippy but i'm a tree hugger too larry

I'd laugh if someone called me that to fight :p I've noticed almost nothing but name-calling lately in struggles against environmentalists and it's almost funny if it wasn't so backwards and frightening. It _aMaZeD_ me the other night when I saw Krauthammer use ye'ole "past climate changes" argument, proving how many people can't even begin to imagine how one species boubling in under 40 years, taking over every mile of the planet and causing a mass-extinction without any though of the next 500 years. (And our brains are GROWING! Yeah right on, go apes go!) I LOL'ed for real when I heard him say it, not a happy lol, the lol for idiots beyond hope. It's cute how hard they fight, I wonder what the point in that really is. Their God doesn't value the planet he built? It's not gonna make us all more secure to use renewable energy? They're not even ready to witness what goes down to get their food on their plate, why would I think they're ready to make changes this big? :p

"Better than a tree-humper" would've been my immediate reply. But I'm a soulless, evil bastich, unlike you. And this person clearly hasn't seen the effects of tree strip-mining on a community.

yep - that's me - i love trees! I talk to the ones in my yard - BEGGED them not to fall over during the last big hurricane, and they were kind enough to oblige.
Voted : I’d be okay with it
There's nothing wrong with trees. I'd save a whale if I knew how.
Usually Greedy Conservative Republicans use that expression to demean anybody that is more concerned protecting the environment than destroying it and profiting from it like they do.
