Far too often, and I know that CLinton wa sguilty of this, the pardon is used for financial gain. Reminds me of the ancient practice within the Catholic Church of selling indulgences. That was no better, IMO.

Further evidence you live in a monarchy is that this president is the son of a previous president. And they were BOTH UTTERLY RUBBISH, just like most royal families.

"Do they posess some magical powers and insight far beyond those who convicted these people?"

Hell yea! My cat has more insight than the average jury pool.

Seriously, I'm not a great legal mind, but I agree with Hamilton's arguments for Presidential Pardons.

We are burdoned with the responsibility to ensure whoever becomes President (hopefully) will not abuse powers as you are currently witnessing the consequences of what happens when that occurs...the percentage of people that vote is disheartening, nothing's worse than taking your rights, freedoms and liberties for granted...a good metaphor is like giving a driver's license to a drunk that drives for a living...it's only a matter of time...I wouldn't be surprised if this current President tries to "pardon" himself to prevent post Presidency investigations...

They get to use pardons far more often than we get to use impeachments. I can't wait to see how many white-collar cronies Dubya will let loose before the end of his term.

"Does anyone the f@#$%^&* care?"

unlike some of our "right wing" friends, most of us judge people for what they do, and not for the party they belong to.

I said "presidential pardons" not GW's potential pardons. I was referrring to everyone, including clinton. I know who Marc Rich is. and he shouldn't have been pardoned.

now, have I ever seen you say anything bad about your ubermeister in the white house, no matter what they do? hmmmm?
