it's a play on the fact that he seems to be very cozy with israel. how is that an ethnic slur? if he spent all his time going on vacation to jamaica and he was called jamaica joe, would you say that? probably not.
and ethnic is the wrong word to use. stay on topic or move on.

I don't really care for Joseph Leiberman. I don't think he has lived up to his promises and I think he betrayed his base of supporters, but I don't know what his motives are. I really think that his efforts to raise money for a Republican is very underhanded. If a Republican was raising money for a Democrat, I would think that odd too.
I think because he is Jewish people might think it's a slur, not saying that's what you are doing kev, but if someone didnt' know, they might think you are.
First time I saw it written here, I was little turned off.
Plenty of other lawmakers support Israel and fact this term only used with someone Jewish, yeah, I can see skylab and lcd's point.
Again, not saying that's your reasons, just stating my opinion here.

why try to read more into it than that? to be so politically correct as to intimidate and prevent facts from being discussed? we have a vested interest in his actions on a national level. so either address the actual topic, or don't bother. your observations on his moniker are duely noted.

So that makes it ok for you to use it, right? It does smack of an ethnic slur, and besides mocking Bush for his relationship with Saudia Arabia is not the same thing. What your doing by calling him "jersulalem joe" is akin to saying "blackie sharpton" You're trying to divert attention from the fact you know it's wrong to say "jerulsalem joe liberman"

If Bush was a MUSLIM and ballots were made saying Riyadh Bush, I think some people would find that offending or congressman Ellison, the only Muslim in that body of government, I don't know what his views are on Saudi Arabia, but if he supported that government and traveled to Mecca, would it be ok to say Mecca Ellison?
Say what you want, I'm just saying what I feel. Don't really see the point in adding Jerusalem unless you add it to everyone that supports Israel, but that's your decision, I answered the ballot question, he's a whore.
Also if I supported Lieberman , maybe you could say I'm doing red harring to take attention away from what he is doing , but I dont support him .

okay, but answer this question: if as senator he took way too many vacations and only went to jamaica and was jokingly referred to as "jamaica joe," being he is white, what would be said then?
and we call it like we see it. this is a united states senator who has lied, betrayed his constiuents, manipulated the system and pretty much engaged in double talk and, all the while, seems totally more concerned with israel than he does with the actual security of the united states.
that's why i say a red herring. facts -- can be a disturbing thing to some people, so they'll try anything to avoid them being addressed.

In fact, with his latest push for the U.S. to invade Iran on Israel's behalf, he may be doing just that.
