No choices? I think he jumped because he felt guilt over what he had allegedly said to the 12 year old. Mind you, the ASSHOLES who did this thing deserve any punishment the court could meet out. But, speaking from personal experience, I think as a general rule, people are more haunted when they don't face down their own personal "demons" ie. the psyche. He had refused psychological help. Nobody is perfect. NOBODY. WHAT A TRAGEDY. We'll never know how he could have further helped this world.

I agree with Contra ^
contragrain, I agree with what most of what you said, but i don't think it's necessarily guilt over what he said to the 12 year old. He was drunk. I think, yeah, he couldn't cope with the pain of what he went through, especially since he refused all help. Are men less prone to seeking therapy?

No choices? Sometimes, I just don't know what choices ot list, I either put up a story cause it's funny or it's of interest. This was of particular sadness. I can't help but wonder why he didn't seek therapy; was he trying to be a tough guy who could cope?

So should the guys who attacked him be charged with his death since he obviously killed himself because of what had happened to him?
^no, they should be charged for the attack, not for his death. The attack was absolutely horrific

Humanity...may it end in thirst.
His attackers should have been executed the day after their convictions. They're sub-human scumbags, so it would have been like stepping on cockroaches in a filthy outhouse.
Voted : This is a good argument for hate crime laws
I hope the bad guys are punished properly.
aya -- you may be right. We'll never know for a certainty why, unless he left a note. Did he leave a note? I agree that it is sad. And, the haters who did this thing deserve any punishment they get. That statement is worth repeating. Relating to this guy's story; my mouth has gotten me in more trouble than anything else. When I'm haunted by the past, it isn't the injustices I've suffered; it's because I consider myself a "good guy" and yet, I've said things to people which were better left unsaid. Maybe the guy did commit suicide simply because of the trauma he endured. But, oftentimes victims who don't receive therapy will blame themselves. IMO, all people's personalities can be placed somewhere on the psychoses/neuroses continuum. A true psychotic would never have killed himself, he would have blamed the world, and maybe become homicidal. On the other hand, if a person leans toward the neurotic end--as I tend to--they might blame themselves at least a little bit. Best to find a center ground. It's just an intuition. I could be wrong. All I have to relate is my own experience. Very insightful ballot. And my intro "no choices?" was more of an observation. I think in this case it is MOST appropriate, because it leaves the reader more to THINK about. It allows us to look at the thing from EVERYONE'S perspective. BRAVO.
