Voted : Save the ring
Don't be in such a hurry to give it away. Just put it away for right now and when you do eventually get married, maybe you could give it to your wife on one of your anniversary's.
I'm not in a hurry to give it away, but you are right, never thought of doing that, I was thinking I had to give it as an engagement ring when that day did come , but I wouldn't, your suggestion of giving it as anniversary gift or other occasion would be best idea
As I have been divorced (twice), I am glad that I was not given my moms’ or my grandmas’ ring to use. But if it was understood that the ring was in your family, and if you indeed got divorced. And as since she will get most of what you got and then some anyway. A judge should/will order that the ring at least be return to your family line. And if the judge doesn’t order that, and lets her keep it, well Larry, let’s just say that you needed a better lawyer. But this is getting way ahead of the starting point. You can’t let this bother you the way it is doing. When love comes your way you should grab on with both hands. Because as I have found that I can do anything as long as I got my partner standing right beside me.

...Or better yet, save the ring to pass down to your kids as an heirloom.
