It probaly would be not be advisable if there were only a few of them in existence. They would probably be captured for study and, sadly, placed in a zoo.
If there were lots of them, like many thousands, and one or some were menacing you, killing the creature would, I am sure, be seen as self defense.

yes, and these creatures are probably not as docile as one would suspect. Up here, Native Americans had a legend about Bigfoot, or sasquatch. They would warn they're children about staying late outdoors, lest they be sighted by these creatures who would attacks. A couple of Natives thought it was just a legend until they ran into two of them. There have been reports of Bigfoot attacking places with rocks when feelign threatened.
