That is what I hear from people who live in countries that are controlled by dictators

They refer to USA, Israel, UK, Australia and others.

Its either because of meadling in other nations affairs, the situation between Israel and Palestinians, and even sexual matters, more than one person told me that in the so called democracies, people behave like dogs and have sex in the streets

Any thoughts on this?

I'll tell you below

COMMENTS:
I'm constantly amazed at the ignorance citizens of other western countries have of the US and we of them. I'd take what people living under a totalitarian regime where media access is tightly controlled, propaganda is the norm, there is no free speech, freedom or religion, freedom of assembly or freedom of the press with a MASSIVE boulder of salt. The comments you reference only reinforce the point I make.... propaganda, distortion, limited media access and most likely very few have spent any time in western democracies. Most of those who have, want to stay in the western world.

^ true. the internet just makes it worse. yeah like china is so great. just last week they executed the guy who ran their version of the food safety department. people who tell you that larry are entitled to their opinions no matter how misguided.

I had no idea we behave like dogs and have sex in the streets. Maybe I'm oblivious.

The part about meadling I can agree with, but I've never seen anyone have sex in the streets.

People in western countries are always saying Americans are ignorant and views misguided, and they have no problem correcting us.

The people I speak of in the ballot, if they say something I know is true, I'll agree with them, but I also let them know when they say something that is false, I think it's okay to do that as long as it can be done without insulting or name calling, unlike how some express their views on this site.

I disagree with the behavior analogies, but agree that the definition of "civilization" we hold up as a shining beacon could stand reworking.

Kev, about that: I don't think they care about any safety and food regulations at all. Apparently, it's also difficult to do any type of buisness with China without bribes. And, not to mention the fact that the people themselves don't believe the government. So when an execution like this occurs; many believe it's just for show. Just recently, an RCMP officer had a pack of batteries in his office from China, and he left the office for a while with his subordinate; they heard an explosion, and the batteries had blown the drawer, it could have blown a person's fingers off. From now on, I also don't want to buy any Chinese food; who knows what's in it? Not ot mention the fact that there has been mention of lead put in children's toys.

I agree with FFLSD, it was interesting that I once read by a reporter that, "in 20 years, in all my research in Egypt, Afghanstan and the like, I have never met any woman envious of a WEstern woman." She mentioned that Arab and Egyptian women often felt that American women chose individualism over having a family, social anomie (?) and were prided for their looks not thier brains. Right, because in the Arab world, women are so respected. It's dangerous for a woman to be alone anywhere, but even more so in Muslim countries where women are the most oppressed in teh world, I would not want to live in Pakistan, or Egypt, as a woman. I think that these comments smack of ignoranc.e

sex in the streets???
what's the address????

oh......ok that doesn't really happen does it....
people say things like that because it is a way of degrading "the other".
"you are not like me and so you are bad...." I think in part it is also a defense mechanisms "yes my life sucks, but i wouldn't want to be you because you 'have sex in the street'". It is ignorance and fear and an unwillingness to confront the flaws in one's own society and one's self. therefore something that might be better must have flaws and then it is understandable that one not pursue that better life or even one is excused or forgiven because it is beyond their control to pursue it.
