I think that might be me, I don't dream of being a millionaire, I want to have a good job and make decent living , I definitely want kids, so want to be sure I can provide for them, but many of my friends talk about having expensive cars making all sorts of money and such. I don't think look at success that way.
^ I don't think or look

me too larry. success is what you want it to be, not what someone else tells you it should be. you can give something your best shot, not succeed, but still be a success because at least you tried.
something wrong with the site, I thought it was me but noticed now that sentences are being cut off.
^nevermind, they reappeared

I think women percieve success as different then men; in my experience, men look at success more in terms of status and money; women look at it more in terms of quality of life

^ no, its not just women who do. in my experience at least. i don't think you can apply sterotypes here.
aya -- do you think they are doing so according to their own definition of success, or is it according to the definition set by society, etc?

I think success is happiness, if it makes you happy, its successful, mission accomplished. I have a great family, success I like the work i do and it pays well, success I am pretty good at badmington, success I am horrible at hockey, not a success unless they change the rules, when they do, success

Dude, they weren't stereotpyes, just what i have seen. "aya -- do you think they are doing so according to their own definition of success, or is it according to the definition set by society, etc? " I suppose it's a socialization factor

Besides, since success is judged through money, generally, it's not surprising that men and women would look at differently

^ but those are sterotypes. it may be your experience, but not mine. i know dads that quit work to stay home with the kids while the wife worked. i know a guy who quit practicing law to be a teacher. you keep refering to me as "dude" in your replies, which tells me you don't like my challenging. i'm not picking on your replies, just trying to dig deeper. i don't see things as black and white. i don't think everything can be categorized, put in a box, labled and filed away. consider this comment you made -- "Besides, since success is judged through money, generally, it's not surprising that men and women would look at differently" it's like giving up and just accepting common stereotypes. what i asked was, how do you judge success. you're telling me what the common sterotype or assumption is and it's already known. so how do you, aya, judg success? do you base the conclusion of whether you are or have been successful on what others set as the determination or what you set for yourself? see the difference?

Flexible ofcourse but i do force them to do there best...i reward them! you want those Etnies, you better do this or that. You want that new skateboard/whatever it is, you best be on the honer roll...that sort of thing! Our middle child has the most goals, he's a penny pinching, money hungry and manipulative child, even our finance advisor knows it, he's gotten money from him too, he gets money from everyone, he could get a nun to take off her top!! This kid is going to make a lot of money someday! Austen amazes everyone he meets
