Go to war with Afghanistan, not to go war, but you all knew that :)
Voted : explanation below
I wish I could wrap my head around it but, these days, it's all I can do to walk forward and not have my head explode. I chalk it up to lots of people with lots of sad, stuppid agendas. And I'm glad again that I can't find those damn launch codes...
I kinda understand what I said
^that was not for you truth, I wrote it before I saw your comments

didn't you just make this ballot? anyway, it defies explanation. your comparison is good though.
^ not exactly the same, I got the idea for this from the other
^ohhh yeah, you mean my ballot last week? In a way it's the same, but with a little difference.
i saw a cartoon years ago about a caveman and it ended up with a house fire - it was hysterical - always wished i could get my hands on a copy of it... oh but the question - cause and effect.... very very VERY complicated - who can say what leads to what. yes i wonder too what little change in our day to day life could make in the bigger picture. Ever see "The Butterfly Effect" - or "Run, Lola, Run"? both interesting flicks along the lines of slight changes in the sequence of events having big changes in the final outcome. Some effects are quite obvious - others much more subtle - don't fret too much about it. Make your decisions and make them firm and whatever you decide - have no regrets but face the consequences. That is all we can do.
Well, I was taught to go back to the closest cause able to produce the effect that is the object of my research. Otherwise, one could place the origins of the french revolution in the outcome of the battle of Poitiers, or the origins of communism in the teachings of Jesus Christ. The bottom line is they knew where they were going and they CHOOSE to go there.

Actions that seem to be good can have many bad consequences that aren't easy to see, and vice versa. Furthermore, the chain of consequentialism can go on and on and on, and continue until the effects are very, very distant from the cause. We can never know for sure whether or not any one action ultimately causes more harm than good or more good than harm.
